I got the car back to the house and I'm just going to wait until it gets warmer to replace everything. -------------------- |

-------------------- I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside. |

I would love to but I have no time off to do it. My new plan is to take 3-4 days off in a row in late April and bang this out. I need to make sure it's warm (I hate being cold), research everything down to the letter, and have no fear - and maybe have you or the horniak give me a hand on one of those days I'm just glad it broke when I was so close to home last night... -------------------- |

Sorry to hear that, good luck getting it back on the road.
Try and take lots of pictures when you do your headgasket replacement as I will be doing that sometime in the near future. -------------------- |

Sorry to hear about your incident.
Is your engine ok? I'm not quite sure what the consequences are after having a snapped timing belt. -------------------- |

I want this question answered by the knowledgable on the site bc i have been wondering the same thing, are our engines interference or not? Bc I have been wondering whether I should be looking into changing my belt just to be on the safe side since i've put 41k on it since i bought it and i have no clue if it is still a stock belt or not. I plan on doing road trips this summer and i don't want my car breaking down anytime soon. EDIT: Non-interference means when the timing belt breaks the valves are Not involved... I had a friend who was getting rid of his 93 gt and the timing belt broke and his mechanic said the valves could be bent, he gave it away for 300 bucks...i believe it was a 5sfe? Thats the only reason why i didn't touch it at the time (Years ago). -------------------- Darin H. |

Interference motors. Might not be conclusive but its a start:
1986-95 1.5L Tercel 1981-83 2.2L Pickup 1984-87 2.4L Pickup 1982-88 2.8L Celica Cressida 1987-94 3.0L 4-Runner Unfortunately that mechanic didnt know whether or not it was interference. the 5sfe is not. This post has been edited by Supersprynt: Mar 12, 2007 - 3:01 PM -------------------- |
