My car has been up on jack stands for about 5 months now, and i went to work under it again and noticed it was leaking something. I had noticed earlier when i was working in the garage that it smelled like gas all of the sudden. I figured it was one of my neighbors doing something, because i didnt have any open gas lying around.

There are 3 lines going to/from my fpr. First one is blue and goes towards the engine. second 2 are smaller
I will get some pics up asap of where the leak is coming from. The line that goes to the bottom of the fpr is the line that is leaking

It is not a small drip, fluid is streaming down the control arm. Battery is disconnected.

I found this under the car

That's a banjo bolt for either end of the fuel line from the filter to the rail. I don't know how your fuel system is set up exactly but in a stock car the fuel filter is bolted to the drivers side frame rail. You're going to need a pair of crush washers as well.

Im not the best mechanic yet, could you simplify it a bit for me? Where is the fuel filter and what does it look like? What is the frame rail?

i followed the line that is leaking and it runs from the bottom of my fpr and goes to a hard fuel line leading to the rear of the car (gas tank). I clamped the rubber hose from the fpr before it connects to the hard lines and it seems to have helped with the leaking. im not sure if the drips are from what was already there or if it is still leaking, but it is not as bad as before (not flowing)

Alright so after going back under the car and thinking with a clear mind (after dealing with the thought of leaking gas all over my garage) I dont think the banjo bolt is from the fuel system at all. I tihnk the bolt is from my brake system (I took the caliper off, and someone walking by must have kicked the bolt under the car). It is the same thread/pitch/size as the caliper bolt so Im guessing thats what its from.

The banjo bolt on the top of the fuel filter is bigger (maybe a 17mm) and is still attached.

I still have the problem of why my fuel lines started leaking on their own.
The clamp on the rubber hose did seem to stop the leaking. I dont know why it would be leaking from there though. It was almost as if the fp was working, but my batt is disconnected, and the car has been sitting like that for the past 5 months.

I will get a pic of where I have the clamp on the rubber line.

it looks like its leaking from your fuel filter, fuel return line or the fpr.

What are you doing to the car? Is this something you loosened? Those banjo bolts dont just fall out on there own. If they are loose at all they will leak like a faucet. You could CAREFULLY connect the battery, turn the key on, and short the B+ and FP to turn the fuel pump on. If there is a leak you will find it VERY quickly. This is only helpful if you cant pinpoint the leak. This is assuming that your wiring was done properly. Good luck. Also dont catch anything on fire... biggrin.gif

In the 1, 4, 5 you can see the hose that is leaking. it is the one with the worm clamp. Its leaking right where the rubber hose is connected to the solid fuel line

The 7 pic shows the line going to the bottom of the fpr.

What hose is that? Im guessing its the fuel return line.

The banjo bolt is from the brake caliper. I had it set aside and someone must have kicked it under the car. I saw it, it smelled like gas (or rather my hand) and freaked, thinking that the bolt fell out and was causing my leaking.

I still dont know why it started leaking in the first place. Like I said, the car has been sitting like that for the past 5 months (front end on jackstands) and it only started leaking early this afternoon. How could it just start to leak on its own? All ive done lately was take off the drivers brake system (rotor, pads, caliper) but didnt touch anything in the engine bay, and that was at least a week ago... *shrugs*

the only part of the brake system that could be is the brake line to your caliper. You would know if one of your brake lines was disconnected.

the fact that you're leaking gas and you find that on the ground probably means it's from your fuel return line.

thats your fuel return then. undo the clamp and take the hose off. inspect it for cracks... replace the hose if needed, and reinstall with a new clamp.

Yeah thats what I was going to do. Im guessing it cracked right where it overlaps the hard line.

Is the fuel system pressurized? Would it still be pressurized after 5 months of not running?

Out of the 2 hard lines on the drivers firewall I think it was the bottom one. What line is that?

open your gas cap to let the pressure out that pushing gas out of the tank via the return line. once you let the pressure out it should stop leaking. but thats just so it stops leaking in your garage. you'll still need to do like lagos said and inspect it all for cracks in both the hard metal line and the rubber tubing.
