Hey,
I've seen alot of guys over here that have build the 7afte. I'm in the progress of doing it now but when i look at most of the 7afte's the oil return line is positioned in the oil pan. Alot of 7afte's have the problem of blue smoke when full accelerating. I think thats caused because the oil thats returning dont flow free into the oil pan. Because its already filled with oil, it will eventually go there but not how its supposed to do. Thats why some oil stays in the turbo and creates blue smoke. I drilled a hole above the oil pan so its flowing free. Cant make it quite clearer (im dutch, english is not my best language) Maybe im wrong but we will see that on sunday (then its running) This post has been edited by Conwa: Mar 16, 2007 - 12:37 PM |

I thought about this as i had my 7AFTE smoking like crazy... You drilled the hole in the cast piece witch is over the oil pan, right? Then i was buidling martin's 7AFTE i drilled the oil pan, cuz i aint wanted to risk drilling the cast piece, and i saw no smooking problems with his setup. Ussualy this might happen (the smoke under the WOT) cuz of the weared out oil seals in the turbo.. -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

Mine is at the oil pan and doesn't smoke. It used to smoke because it had a broken piston. My oil return line is straight down. But you're right...if it's not perfect, meaning that it Js on the bottom, it'll puddle and choke the turbo. It cannot go down and then up into the fitting, so the oil doesn't stay there.
