so, basically, I was browsing e-bay the other night and it was late and I was tired, and I placed a bid on what I thought was an SAFCII... then, I found out it was actually a VAFC I was bidding on! anyway, what I wanted to know was, can the VAFC be used on non-vtec cars? cause in the description, the guy said he was using it on his 300zx. so, if it can be used on non-vtec cars, then what is the real advantage of the SAFC over the VAFC? I know that the AFC NEO is basically like the two combined, so there must be something different.

From what i have read only once or twice on other forums, is that they are basically the same thing, but one can control v-tec (vafc)....although, for those with the beams equipped engines, or the 3rd gen 3sg(t)e, i have heard that the vtec controlling functions of the v-afc, can be used to activate vvti/acis at whatever designated rpms you decide...have i done it myself...no. will i ? yes, just to verify myself......

it's ok. somebody outbid me. so now I can get an SAFC instead, I just have to pay more attention to what I'm bidding on. lol. anyway, here's what somebody else asked the seller on his auction:
Q: Id like to know how the VAFC differs from the SAFC. Is there any differance at all (aside from the VAFC Vtec capabilities)? Im planning to use it in my Subaru Liberty/Legacy RS Turbo which does not have Vtec, will it function propperly or not? Please email me ASAP! A: It will function fine, Like I said in the description this was used on my 300zx TT for monitor the fuel curve and adjust on the fly. I called Apexi beforehand and was told I just would not connect the VTEC Cam wire, since it wouldn't be possible to change cam acceleration on non-VTEC. From the data screen you can just not monitor it and bring up the options you need. In short, apexi approved its use in other applications. -------------------- 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |
