QUOTE(easternpiro1 @ Mar 17, 2007 - 1:02 PM) whats up guys, im getting ready to go to the track tomorrow. any suggestions? waterbox tips? launch suggestions? just curious what i will run been wondering for a while. wish me luck! if your running street tires, go around the waterbox. if anything just spin them once around to kick the dirt and rocks off them. just lower your air pressure in the fronts, crank up the rears, launch soft, and hit it hard!!! (you'll just spin the tires if you really rev it before launch...you'll have to find the sweet spot for your own car.) GOOD LUCK!! -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

just give them a little spin to clean them
run about 26-30psi in your front tires biggest tip is learn how to slip the clutch out off a launch hard to teach via a post but, i'd probably say some where between 2k and 2,500 rpm hold at the light then slip the clutch out while giving it gas....abuses the clutch some but if you can do it right, you'll end up full boosting maintaining traction and getting good 60' times... just remember a drag race is won and lost on the launch concentrate on getting them down really good and lowering your 60' times as much as possible...a realistic goal for your 60' foot times are like 2.2 to 2.3 seconds |

With the change in tire pressure it should reduce the tire spin. Since you will most likely spin in 2nd, I would say slip the clutch, But there might be better ways.

okay im back! I did HORRIBLE on my first try. it was bad. I thought my clutch went out on me after i tried to launch off the start. i was told i had white smoke coming out of the back (BOTH have never happened before) i cant begin to know what happened with that.
then I finally got better at my reaction time (my best was a .14something) and my best quarter mile time was 14.2 i was hoping i would get at least around 13.6 It seemed that when I nailed the react time i would miss a gear later or just loose traction. i was using my street tires (205 40 17's) oh and i later lowered my tire pressure. i think my axles are going bad. im feeling/hearing a light clunk in my floorboard when i am accelerating lightly and letting of the gas. anybody know what that is? -------------------- |

Your first run would still beat auto STs!
Great run overall dude. 14.2 is pretty good since you haven't really drag raced much.. did better than my expectations [no offense...] I thought you would hit mid to hi 14s |

umm 2nd gear spin is solved with proper throttle control, you have to ease into it and not floor it
put those 14s on that i gave you and run 26psi in air pressure should help with the launch practice more is always important, overall not a bad start i run 14.3 with a 2.1 60' in the jetta on a good run so you still beat me doing crappy...JERK! aim for a 2.1 or 2.2 60' time and you'll see massive overall ET's improve A LOT |

14s in the front with 17s in the back would help with launching. Making the rear stiff to prevent it from "poping"?

Awesome Piro! If you get some experience with the track and better tire/rim situation I know you'll be hitting your goal or better.

stock wrx is way slower then 14.2
but lol running around being like my car is faster then it says on the paper! doesn't help you at all....your only as fast as you can drive it street or strip....i've driven several 3sgte swapped celicas 5th and 6th gen including this car (piro) the car is no doubt capable of being faster then 14.2 BUT it isn't until actually proven....words don't mean anything without the proof.. just like making a 1500hp supra and saying this car can do 8.742 seconds in the 1/4 mile and top speed @ 215....well if every driver has only achieved a 9.16s 1/4....its only a 9.16s car.....making comments based on speculation isn't a sound comment or wise decision oh and i would LOVE to see someone run a faster 1/4 on the street then on a prepped track..that make sense This post has been edited by playr158: Mar 20, 2007 - 11:34 PM |

So why dont any of you guys who spend all this money on engine swaps buy slicks? Everyone has traction problems but no one buys slicks!
