I'm pretty ghetto.. so today I used the K&N Filter Charger to clean out the air filter cone on my intake. Did wonders, haven't cleaned it since October, so needless to say it was caked in filth!
What do you guys do? Clean it.. or just buy a new cone .. I'm just saynig this because two honda guys told me that "yo, ew just buy new ones everyyear) .. doesn't that defeat the purpose of non-disposable air filters? Lemme know, Shaun:) |

If you have a K&N, just clean it! That's what they're for

Nah.. mine is jsut some cheap $20 filter... I clean it... but.. I mean.. what they said sparked some interest on my behalf...
Can we clean those things forever? There's gotta be some point where we're better off replacing them regards to the cheap cone air intakes) |

That I'm not sure about. If it's made to be cleaned, then I would say clean it. If not, then you're better off to replace it.

Get a K&N. Lifetime baby. Pop it out and clean it
![]() I guess it depends on your intake. Some are meant to be cleaned and some are meant to be replaced (filter). If you cant remember then head down to where you bought it and see if they sell filter replacments. And if they do I guess thats the way to go. |

How about the cone filters that come with injen intakes? Can you just take them out and clean them or do you need to buy a replacement?

Q: Are your air filters cleanable?
A: Yes, our filters are cleanable using any of the automotive air filter cleaning kits that are available on the market. Im sure there are home-maid remedies. But I'd go with that. The kits cant be too expensive ![]() |

The cleaning kit I got was like $15. And I'm sure it's good for a lot of uses. It came with spray on filter oil, and a cleaning spray. Everytime you change your oil, just follow the instructions and take less than $3 and clean it, no biggie.

Personally, I'd just buy a new filter... they aren't that expensive...

Well, why would you waste your money? The time and effort that goes into replacing your filter and cleaning it is almost exactally the same. And it's less wasteful.
