I was having fun with my celica when i noticed that it was making a hissing noise as i reached the redline. it kinda sounds like a blow-off valve going sssss. would this be caused by a leak or i should not be worried about it? my celi is also making some clunking noise when i start moving. it sounds as if something is going to fall off my car. i'm afraid the tranny might fall out becuz it only makes that clunking noise when i step on the gas. my celi hasnt been the same after the accident.

I'm afraid you'll have to get mechanic to look at that.

Yeah, that's exactly what it sounds like.
A bad/loose engine mount.

I don't know on the hissing man.
I'd have to hear it....

You can't hear the hissing unless the car is redlining and i aint gonna redline no more my celi just reach 181k miles

I have a stupid question but what are the dangers involved with driving my car with a loose/damaged engine mount like that? and would it be ridiculously expensive to fix/replace because you have to take out the engine?

first make sure they're all tight. if you need them they're maybe $30-50/ea new I believe (I'm not sure if its the same at the dealer though, I work at PepBoys).

you don't have to take the engine out to change the mounts. you can either find out which one is bad and change just that one or go for all of them to be safe. just put a jack up the engine a bit to support it and take out one mount at a time. the rear mount is the only one that might give you some trouble which sucks cause it's the one that usually needs to be replaced.

I have been peeking around my engine bay a bit and i think i found the problem. I checked the engine mounts and the one closest to the firewall has missing bolts. The top bolt is still there but the head broke off. The place where the bottom bolt is suppose to go is broken off. I'm not sure if the mechanic is able to do anything but remove the top bolt and put another one. Still havent taken it to a mechanic yet.

Well you found your clunking noise. The hiss might be from an exhaust leak from the flex pipe. Mine does it whenever I mash on the gas to take off.

I can recreate the noise but i think it might be a different noise. I would reverse on a hill and u can hear the noise but my friend said that it sounds more like an exaust problem.

It does not even sound like a hiss noise anymore now that I listen to it more. As I redline it sounds more like squealing.

Where does the sound come from? Can you hear it with your hood up and revving the engine? You could have an intake issue like a manifold leak. If you can record the sound and try to see where you can hear it from.
