so my Celica decided it wanted to blow a connecting rod. Anyone know how much the rebuild is going to cost? And when I have it rebuilt, is there anything I can have done internally to get more power from the motor? Let me know. Thanks!

if you need rods let me know i'm taking my motor apart this weekend.

but sux to hear it blew on you

but if you search you can get better pistons (or new pistons)
and even forged rods (800$ i think)

Buy a used replacement engine. Much cheaper and much less of a headache.

Like they said, it's prolly cheaper just to buy a used engine. I got my most recent for $500 with 27k on it. Be careful tho and do a compression test on the engine just in case, that way if anything is wrong with it you can fix it before something goes boom again.

I just recently had my original motor throw a rod, put another 7a that was poorly maintained and had it blow just a couple months later. Now I'm on my 3rd motor.

Also for the price it costs to build these motors up and get any kind of signifigant power gains, you could have dropped a 3sgte in and had more bang for your buck.

and even forged rods

This engine already has forged rods/pistons.
Most engines do....

This is probably your best bet.

You might have damaged the cyl wall, crank, ect when the rod went...

Not sure how picky emissions are in your area but JDM engines do not have the EGR port thru the head for your ECU not to give you a CEL code 71. But it's easy to BS the system.

That would depend.
Some 5SFE/3SFE/3SGE/GTE parts are interchangeable.
Others aren't.

There is at least a change some will interchange.
But probably not the engine internals...
