My neighbor has a MKII, I've been staring at that thing every time I get in and out of the house...

The paint on that car starts to chip, though, the engine *seems* ok (from what I hear across the street when he starts the car).. He just placed a "FOR SALE" sign, so I went over and talked to him and he said he wanted $1,000 for it. Sat in it, Interior seems ok, thank god it's cloth meterial, it's no type (neither a P- or T-Type), year is 1984, drove ok around the block, very tight steering.. 5MGE, 5 speed manual, very hard clutch, brakes squeek, knocking when steer hard (omg did i just killed his CV boot!??!!?).

What do you guys think?

$1,000 for a classic Japanese hot rod - 1984 Celica Supra MK2

Sorry I didn't take pics...

buy it...i have an 83 celica GT...best car i have ever had..i actually kinda like it more then my 6gc..lol. Seriously though, great freaking cars. Only thing i would check is pop the hatch, take a look under the plastic near the latch and see if theres any rust coming through..usually you wont see if on the top, but you will see it from the bottom..also check the floor pans and rockers. Also i forgot about the antenna area. But i say go for it, you'll like it alot.

Does it have the 14s? Fender Flares? [flares indicate Ptype]

Check for rust in the hatch and near the car cover. 1K is a good price.

No it doesn't have the flares... I like the care more and more... I shall check rust spot tonite. Now I think about it, why would it have knocking noise when turning if this car is a RWD?... weird.

that weird knocking sound could be the carrier bearing on the diff, mine has an anoying sound when you downshift/go around a corner fast. But if its coming from the front, maybe strut bearings??

MK II are the lightest supras. if you wanna restore it, you'l have a collectors car, is gettting really hard to find a decent one, that's why I said if it has no rust just the shell cost US$1000.00

in the other hand, if you want a fast car, the MK II has enough room to fit a 2JZ in it without problem ( given that is a swap )

for US$1000.00 you can get it and even part it out to make money out of it ( which I hope you don't do )

just the side mirrors for a 1984 or 1985 on ebay go for over 85 dollars, and ask me how I know kindasad.gif

go to celicasupra.com you can find a decent one there. andI believe the car on the pictures belongs to the owner/administrator of celicasupra.com smile.gif

I have a MK II 1985 P-type black, I got it for 1000.00 with no rust 89 K miles on it and everything stock. it just needed a new Differential which I got for 175. next is a paint job.

I'll show pics once comes out of the shop.

im doing my 83 celica GT soon. I gotta finish up my body work and paint. I decided on going with Gunmetal paint, a set of konig rewinds, and im gonna see if i can find an LSD out of a 4wd hilux's front axel *since im runnin a solid rear end*, and when i get the $ for it, im thinkin of doing a 3SGTE swap into it. All i really need as finishing thing is a new hatch. I found one from TAP in Cali, but since im in Canada, its like $200USD for the hatch then a crap load for shipping..hopefully i can find a good condition one soon.

if your differential is a 7.5 housing you can probably get a 4.30 ( gear ratio ) with LSD. I just purchase one from a guy on celicasupra.com for an EXCELLENT price. his name is Kevin so go there and check with him, he said he has 3 of them so now I'd say 2. shipping maybe an issue since it weights ~ 75 lbs.
