Can someone help the n00b, What is the difference between... Options

Ok im a total n00b to celicas and is facinated with them. I am soon going to purchase one and need to know. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A COUPE AND A HATCHBACK?? i cant see a damn thing. so if someone could please tell me and or post some pictures that would be great! thanks for helping a total n00b!

Coupe- Backseat separate from trunk. they're not as common. Search the members ride section for coupe to see pics.

Hatchback- THe backseats fold down the expand trunk. When the back trunk is opened, it opens over the trunk and slightly over the back seat. See my profile for pics of what a hatchback looks like.

Generally the hatchback is preferred I think. I think the celica lines are preserved a little more. Also, the tail lights are different between the two, and I think it might be a different spoiler, but I ain't to sure. Its your call, but I'd reccomend the hatch. Good luck finding a car!

My coupe seats fold down too.

A coupe has a trunk, where the back window doesnt move. Hatchbacks have a "trunk" which opens not only the back compartment, but also the back window comes up also. Not that Scooby didnt give a good explanation but im just expanding.
Coupes were first, hatchs came second. They carry different spoilers, the coupes are lighter.

I like the coupes better, I have a coupe.

so pretty much theyre the same? just a few minor inner differences? i understand, but if you saw them from outside could you tell the diff if they both had aftermarket spoilers?

yea you can see the diffrence.. and coupe are stiffer on the back....the rear bumpers as diffrent too...

The hatchback has the back window as part of the trunk lid, the coupe the window is separate. I guess its personal choice.

ITS A DAMN LIFT BACK!!! why does everyone call it a hatch back??????? A hatchback is like a volkswagon gti or golf, a civic HATCHBACK, or new civic si's!!!! hatchbacks are dirty ass little cars (heh the volks's are ok I guess, dirty honda's). A hatchback is flat on the back and the door opens like suv's or minivan's. a LIFTBACK is set at an angle and the back window usually ends up in the same type of angle as the windshield.

hatchback, liftback. its like saying po-tay-to and po-tah-to. but according to my insurance card, you are right, it does say 2 door liftback. but at the toyota dealer i believe they called it a hatchback, so i became so confused i almost passed out, but then the left side of my brain looked at the right side of my brain and said "calm down, it doesnt really make a difference" at that point, i passed out anyway. the moral of the story is....
well actually 2 morals. the first one is this: hatchback and liftback are used interchangeably when speaking of a sports hatchback such as the celica. the second moral is if your gonna get really drunk and pass out, you should prolly have another drink!
Since that had nothing to do with celicas, i am done with my post! goodnite chicago!!!!!
