Ok so I just put a MBC on my car last night. No matter how far up I crank it, I wont boost over 5 psi. I spliced into the turbo pressure vaccum hose (between the turbo and the wastegate), ran that to the INLET of the mbc. Then ran the OUT on the mbc to the wastegate. I then pinched off the vaccum hose that is on the other side of the wastegate. I believe it goes to the factory boost controller. What am I doing wrong?
I know I have to disable the tvsv. Can anyone confirm if its the blue connector under the intake? Thanks

Are you throwing any CEL codes ? You could be in safe mode, reset your ECU. See if that helps you out.

Jeff, if the MBC is working right and hooked up right you can still boost above 5 PSI in safe mode.
With the TVSV bypassed and a block on lower pressure going to the WG, it won't open until the higher pressure bypasses the BC.

When you say how far up, you mean how far in you turn the bolt, right?
Turning the bolt "up" will not raise boost. It will only open the passage further.

No matter which way I turn the mbc it, the boost stays the same

I dont think you have this hooked up correctly. If you have the stock CT26 the wastegate is internal and you shouldnt be hooking up anything to or from that. You should be bypassing the lines to the actuator.

This is my feelings. That or you have a bad BC.

He is talking about the WG actuator.
You don't bypass them, you put the BC in the middle of the one from the turbo to the actuator, just like he said.

Bad word usage, didn't mean bypass as I meant "interrupt" I suppose.

There should be a hose coming from the compressor side of the turbo, to the actuator. This is the line you need to place the MBC on. Then cut & plug the line from the actuator to the TVSV, which you probably already have done.

Yea, This is what Ive done so far. I just unplugged the tvis connector. Im plugging the hoses going to the oem boost controller. Before I crimped it with vise grips. Ill keep you posted.

I pinched off the 2nd hose coming from the wastegate actuator to the boost control vsv. I believe Im suppost to cap them both off. Before I just pinched the line with vise grips. I fixed that now.
I even tried flipping the hoses on the mbc, no change. Im starting to think that the mbc is a POS! I think Im going to go back to a stock setup, get my exhaust so it will boost normally and drive it! I guess Ill try to get my money back on the mbc. Thanks

you said you spliced into the line from the tubo to the actuator? your supposed to totally remove that, and connect the mbc in its place. take pics of how you have it set up.

I spliced into the hose from the turbo to the wastgate. This hose Im referring to, when pinched off will spike boost to maximum. I will get a pic on tomorrow.

Haha sweet diagram!

If you have it the correct way I say faulty MBC. I have a Joe P lying around I think if you want it I'll sell it for $12 shipped. Lifetime guarantee on those. If I can find them I also think I have an extra ball & spring.

Do you have an air compressor or a bike pump? Remove the MBC from the car and connect the inlet of the MBC to the pump and outlet to a hose and stuck the hose in a glass of water. Let air in the MBC start from low pressure first. Once the MBC opens, you should see air/bubble coming out. If air/bubble comes out right away (at tightest setting, adjusting screw is all the way in), the MBC is bad and will not hold the pressure.

If he doesn't take you up on that offer for the Joe P I'll take it off your hands.
