I just picked up a cold start injector sensor and coolant temp sensor off mr2oc. I havent had a chance to actually try them out yet, but Im hoping they will help with the cold start issues I was having last year. The sensors I recieved were from a 91 turbo mr2, but the csi sensor is different than the one I pulled from my car. I originally had the same one as art. The new one I got, is the one toyota says I "should" have. I was told (by 3 different dealerships) that the white one (20020) is intended for NA. If this IS the case, it puzzles me why jay didnt have any issues with cold start...

Original one = white ecu plug, P/N 20020, one side has 22, and another has 6M / 19 (one ontop of the other)
Replacement one = black ecu plug, P/N 20040, one side has 17, and the other has 5K / 18

Maybe this is why some people are having issues??

Back on topic, the replacement sensors I got are filthy. Should I clean them before I install them or just install them as they are. Im guessing that the coolant would clean them after they have been in there for a bit, but would it affect anything?

Replacement on left, original on right

i wouldnt worry too much about the part numbers. just try one out at a time and see if it fixes the problem. all they do is operate the cold start injector for anywhere from 0-8seconds. so the worst thing that could happen is that your injector doesn't fire at all or doesnt fire for the length of time that it needs to (up to 8sec).

the coolant temp sensors are pretty much universal for most toytas. you can buy a brand new one from any car parts store for about 30bucks.

as far as cleaning them. you can spray some alcohol on them or some carb cleaner if you want, but it shouldnt matter too much if you clean them or not.
