i know the E-153 trans will work, but i havent heard if the newer trans from the solaras are any different than that of the v6 camrys or mr2's. heres the trans im talking about, http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=228086 and here is a picture of it http://picasaweb.google.com/cb0288/...key=hFWg9y8XXGc
is it true that i can use all gt mounts on this trans with the 3s swap, or is it possible to use the st185 mounts. any help is greatly appreciated

The Camry and Solara E153's have a slightly longer final drive ratio, optimized for the V6 that they came from. The MR2 E153 transmission has slightly shorter final drive, but otherwise they are quite similar in non-LSD form.

For that transmission you can use your GT passenger mount and front engine mount, but you will need to use either an ST185 or ST205 drivers side mount and you have to use an ST205 rear mount (shares same crossmember as GT's, unlike the ST185 which is different from the 6th gen's.)

BTW the link to the pictures doesn't work, so I couldn't check out the transmission. wink.gif

Good luck!

Yes, the crossmembers on all models of 6GC are the same, so all you need is mounts. smile.gif

E153's came in V6 5spd. Solaras and Camrys until 2001. As far as I know they've always used E153's since the early 90's in Camrys and since the introduction of the Solara.

I'm not entirely sure, I just know that they were introduced in the mid-90's. wink.gif

If you wind up looking for an E153, get one that's somewhere around 1999-2001 from either a Solara or Camry V6 5spd......they'll usually have lower mileage and be in better shape, and I can assure you from firsthand experience that those years mate up perfectly.
