So I have been researching and from what I have read is that typically head studs are better than head bolts, however sometime only head bolts can be used if you want to remove the head with the engine still in the car.

Could you guys let me know what it is like with the 5S, can you use head studs with the engine still in the car or do you have to use bolts?

I am planning on replacing my head gasket to get ready for a turbo and I was wondering if I should just use Toyota head bolts or if I should upgrade to ARP head bolts or studs?

I was always thinking of upgrading to ARP bolts/studs since most places I have read say when you boost the 5S you will need better bolts, however I am beginning to reconsider this since as far as I know Manny has been running his with the stock Toyota bolts.

I was also wondering what the difference between 3S and 5S head bolts/studs is? I find it difficult to find 5S ARP, but there are lots of 3S ARP products. I think I read somewhere that the only difference is that the 3S are longer and you have to cut off the extra length to use in the 3S, anyone confirm?

Anyways, I am hoping you guys can give me some answers to my questions. Thanks.
