After filling up with 93 octane at a gas station in the middle of nowhere, my engine ran great for like 10 mins than after that it started idling weird, died at idling speeds, and lagged. My troubleshoot was that I pumped in some very nasty and bad gas, that probbaly clogged up my fuel filter and sock.

With the rising gas prices these days, its best to stick to a brand name gas station that you can trust even if its slightly higer than the rest. At least in the end you don't have to regret that your car died on the road due to bad gas.

it could have been an unfortunate coincidence. how long has it been since the fuel filter and what not have been replaced? also, are you using an aftermarket filter or pump, or the stock ST stuff?

Best advice on gas in this forum in a LONG time. A couple months ago in Car and Driver they had a great article about gas quality and the huge effect it can have on both performance and longevity. An independent gas rating organization that analyzed gas from various stations gave their "seal of approval" to only only 7 or so stations in the U.S. that met the standards of the organization for puposes of octane, cleanliness, etc. I don't remember all of the stations because most of them are not local to me. I can tell you that Shell was on the list and I have only used V-Power since.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

Either buy your gas from Amoco, Shell, or Mobil.

Any other gas station winds up using left over crap from major gas stations (the bottom of the barrel, so to speak) OR gets it from other sources (airports, etc). I worked at a Thorntons out here for years and would sign off on the deliveries, noticing the gas was coming from odd places.

They sell it discounted & cheaper for a reason, it's **** gas that I wouldn't put in my lawnmower, let alone my car.

I have heard that Cheveron gas has been tested several times to be the best gas for your car. Most of the guys I know around here put nothing but the 93 Cheveron in their cars. They have relayed the info to me, so I'm not sure on it. I have filled my tank with it, and it seems to be doing pretty well at this point.
