Ok Snapshot said this
Two things. 1.) You got ripped on the engine. Reason: You can get low mileage 5sfe's for $200. Side note: You can get V6 engines for cheaper, and less miles than that even. 2.) The fact that you don't know the total is VERY bad. I assume this means you're paying hourly, thus, welcome to a huge bill in the end. I would try to work out a set price before you proceed if it is not too late. Good luck- Now where can I get a 5sfe for 200? I've seen 3sfe's on ebay for 350 plus shipping. -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer

I swapped out my 5sfe (thrown rod) and it runs great. At the beginning it smoked alittle and had me a little worried, but poured in a little marble mystery oil and that got rid of it. (i know the engine sat for 3 months in my garage.) I drive the car nearly every day and love it. glad i did not spend the money on the 5sfe. |

I personally think Snapshot is wrong. You can get a 7AFE for around 300 on e-bay.
I think the price range for a 5sfe is more around the 500- 1,000. Not 200. -------------------- Buy my Celica $2,500 - http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=76562&st=0

Well if I were to get a new motor I'd get the 3sfe because it is far cheaper than a 5sfe. The only concern I have is how much of a power loss will I have with swapping the 5sfe out for the 3sfe. I'm going to boost the 3sfe anyway, but my question is what would be the difference of a 3sfte vs. the 5sfte?
