aaaaaaaaaaaaah, just venting Options

got a ticket tonight for doing 62 in a 45. it was 1am and on a long straight road in the middle of nowhere. i know cops are just doing there jobs and protecting the public but damn. its not like i was drunk, driving dangerously, street racing or anything reckless. just a bit tired and trying to get home a little quicker. im pissed because my insurance will go up and it might cause me to lose my job. im thinking of going to court hoping to get it dropped considering i think the consequences far outweigh the offense. i usually tell people to accept the consequences and give them a hard time for trying to get out of something they know they are guilty of, but i think i might any advice?

i know the feeling a few months back i got a speeding ticket for doing 40 in 35 that dropped to a 25 with in a few hourndred feet Speed limit was behing a light pole ( speed trap whatttt ! ) .. But I ended up paying double the fine just not to get the points on my recored. See if the prosecution will do that for you.

who would i contact to see if that is a possibility? i would do that just to keep the points off and keep my job (i work at a dealership and i need a clean record because i drive cars all the time). that would be a large fine though, the citation is $155.

yea i ended up pay after all was said and done 420 .. but go to court and talk to the prosecutor. Most of the time they just want to make more money for the city and would plead you out... and since you say it was 1am and it was a stright road.. and had a clean driving recored in the pass. as long as the judge isn't having a really bad day he or she should agree to it .

yo man, i was doin 96 on the parkway and some other stuff i got a ticket for, i got 3 tickets for 1 pullover, bad night but i learned from it, and dont try to go to court by yourself, its all about connections. get a lawyer, and the laywer will talk to the prosecutor...

I got pulled for speeding, wreckless drivin, and not showin proper proof of vehicle which was a misunderstanding, but thanks to the atterney i got, they completly dropped the wreckless and vehicle id, and dropped my speed from 96 on a 65, to a 74 on a 65, so i only got 2 points, 300$ fine, and end of deal, no insurance raise or anything....its worth the extra 500$ to get a attorney instead of payin $$$$$ for insurance and fines.....

my dad works for IBM and he was the one who told me its all about the connections you have...And my attorney was in that court house that i went to alot....so he knew the judge well and the prosecuter....he knew he can help me out alot so just get a attorney and it will save you money in the end

i would of have to paid 1.5k and have 10 points, suspension of liscense, and insurance raise.....not worth it to go the few extra miles faster.....

this is what i did when i got a speeding ticket. I go a lawyer that takes care of my traffic ticket. Pay him $50, He'll take care all the work and I dont pay anything else. They can take anything off your record but price may vary depending what the offenses are. I couldnt get my inspection violation ticket cause that doesnt go on your record, so i end up paying the $200. It all depends on what connection you have. Just like what he said above me. This is Dallas, TX so things can be quite cheap and easy.

You don't need a lawyer. Contest the ticket and go to your court date. When you get there plead guilty and tell them your story in a polite manner, its was 1am, no prevous record, etc... Tell them you really don't want the points on your license and your willing to take some sort of defensive driving class or some other activity to make up for it. If you are honest and dress nice and since you have no previous record they will let you go with a slap on the wrist. I've seen that happen with several of my friends.

Just get it deferred... Its quick and easy and no need for explanation.

Thats what I did when I got my ticket... Pfffft it was only for 10 over too Only down side to it is you cant get caught for speeding again till your deferral is up... If you get caught speeding you havta pay for your first ticket, then your second and then it goes on your record.

ahh...tickets tickets tickets. i seem to only get tickets when warned not to speed.

It's better to take the class BEFORE you go to court to show the judge that you're really sorry, and trying your best . That's how I gotta do it in Fairfax County, VA. They're really strict about speeding / recklessness (mixing bowl) and others.

I just decided not to speed. The new fad that I got into is driving slow and seeing if I can keep up with speeders. It really is possible, and I only get to my destination about 60 seconds later than I would if I were speeding.

I know this from experience too. I've taken the driving improvement class 3x (8hr) and one reckless driving course (4hr). Hhahahaha you think I would've learned to not speed after the first ticket, but noooooo. I ALWAYS get tickets after merging onto a highway. In our case they should call it the decceleration lane after an on ramp. Blast our celica's ability for high exit speeds!

Here you can't take it until the judge gives you permission and if you do it doesn't count and you can't take it again for a year. Better check the laws where you live before trying purplegt4's advice

i dunno where youre from but its pretty simple around here.

1) go to court.
2) just asks you how you plead
3) plead guilty
4) judge automatically removes points and lowers fine

of course your local system mite differ from mine

also, it helps if the officer isnt there. here's how that went for me:
1) judge asks how i plead
2) i plead guilty
3) judge says "your officer isnt here how do you plead?"
4) i say not guilty
5) judge says "youre good to go"

lol one time I had to go to court for a ticket and a girl in front of me got her ticket dropped. This is what he said "I know that spot its a speeding trap so I'm gonna go ahead and just drop it.

when i got my ticket for 76 in a 55 i hired a lawyer...bad idea, just go to the DA at your local court house and tell him the situation ahead of time for court (like 2 weeks) and tell him you are willing to take a drivers improvement class and i did that but it cost me about 400 bucks for it, i could have done the same thing my lawyer did for free :\

what i have done (not sure if this applies to other states) when i got tickets was i went to a traffic school as well as doing a plea of obeyance where if you don't get any more within 6 mo it doesn't touch your record. i have had 2 tickets that will never touch my record because of it. the only thing about it though is if the offense is too bad they won't let you do it. my first ticket i was going 83 in a 50. $410 that one sucked hardcore.

damn $400...my class was $55. unless you're talkin about total fees.
