Just got my CAI in today, it came in two pipes, and they had some dents and scratches on it. Is that normal for this ebay cai? Anyway I will be installing it soon, probably tomorrow when it is lighter. Does anyone know where the cuts need to be made or if I even need to cut the pipe? Thanks.
As far as the bypass valve goes, I can buy one, but where do you put it? Edit: Does everyone's Ebay CAI have two little pipes sticking out? I know that for one, you have that PVC tubing, but there is a smaller pipe and I don't know what to think of it. that smaller one is not needed, i just sealed it off.
the larger one is not needed as well, but what i did is i drilled out that larger hole to put in the air temp sensor in. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Mine had one small pipe, not two. No dents, it was in great shape. I connected the breather hose from the valve cover to the small pipe using the stock hose that was already doing this. I drilled a hole for the air temp sensor.
Just read through this thread, there's a ton of pictures already. -------------------- |

what i don't understand is, doesn't the breather tube that goes from the valve cover already have it's own tube on the throttle body?
see the red tube? if people are plugging this tube to the intake pipe, what are you using to plug the breather pipe on the throttle body? -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

I noticed that today when I took a look at it earlier. The tube seems to already have a connection on the throttle body. -------------------- |

QUOTE(Sinyk @ May 9, 2007 - 10:43 PM) First S-shaped piece. The pipe is awfully close to the brake fluid reservoir. Is there enough length after the s curve that you could shorten the manifold side of the tube a little to get more clearance? Also, has anyone weighed a CAI and compared to the weight of the stock air box & intake components? |

I am in AZ so I don't think the "cold air" effect will apply too much here. My primary concern is fuel economy. I am thinking about ditching the spoiler on my liftback, looks cool but is pointless. |

Try Texas, though honestly, my fathers CAI gave him the small 5-10hp boost they say it will. Besides, I think a CAI is freer and looks better anyway. -------------------- |

I think I actually shifted it towards the engine after pulling it off this past weekend, but it doesn't cause problems. I don't expect it to move much and it's not pushing against the reservoir.
Mine took 10 days to arrive. -------------------- |

When you guys talk about sealing off the small hose on the intake..what do you mean? What do you use to seal the tube off after cutting it? Does anyone have actual measurements for the cuts on the Accord CAI from E autosource for a GT.
I just ordered mine from eautosource..I don't know if I'll be able to wait 3-4 weeks!! My stock intake has a big crack in it right now, any ideas on how to patch it? |

Mine only had one breather outlet so I didn't have to seal anything off, but from the sound of it, some people have received intakes that have two breather outlets, one big, one small. You only need to use the big one, so they seal off the small one, with what I don't know.

Here's the deal. First off, I recieved a 3 inch pipe. Not 2.75, 2.5, but 3. That made it a little more difficult to fit and that is why i decided to go with a short ram intake.
On one hand, I don't need to buy a bypass valve ($40-$50 anti-water thingy) for the intake, but on the other hand, I am getting hotter air. Secondly, my pipe came with two tubes that are apparently used on an accord but not on our cars. I went to Oriellys and picked up some rubber cover seal things. I can go get the name of them if you need. Also, what to you mean the cuts on the Accord CAI? I don't follow that sentence. -------------------- |

Since i have an st i dont need any breather hose, so on my old sri i cut it off with a dremel then grinded down the welds or watever they were that held the nipple in place. Then i taped the inside of the intake where i grinded down the hole. Then i melted a bunch of solder onto the tape and around the hole and everything (crude but all i had). When it was sealed i grinded then sanded the whole thing smooth and sent it away to get powdercoated. imo it was way to much work for a hot air sucker that in the end i just sold.
jlacker its been almost 4 weeks for me, i think 3-4 weeks was an understatement. Im also not looking forward to opening it when it comes because the only reason i ordered from eautosource was because someone said it was 2.5" piping, now i hear thats wrong and someone got 3" piping??? o man....lol wateverrr |
