Because people either can't use the search button or they don't read the previous pages to get all the info they need and proceed to post at the end because it takes less effort.
9 pages now. This post has been edited by Sinyk: Jul 25, 2007 - 1:21 PM -------------------- |

On the GT some people cut the S pipe...and some cut the L pipe to make the intake fit properly in the Celica. I was wondering @ what measurements (how many inches down from one end to the other did you make the cut on each pipe or IF both)
Thanks! I sure hope its not a 3 in. pipe, cause I need to do something quick, my stock intake has a huge crack in it. |

even if it is a 3" pipe u can just widen the hole and move the fuse box, prolly will take about an hour more, depending on your skill.

QUOTE(Sinyk @ Jul 23, 2007 - 12:38 PM) I think I actually shifted it towards the engine after pulling it off this past weekend, but it doesn't cause problems. I don't expect it to move much and it's not pushing against the reservoir. Mine took 10 days to arrive. My thinking about being close to the brake fluid reservoir is if you hit/get hit on the front left, the pipes could cause damage to the reservoir or master cylinder, making repairs more costly and time consuming... |

True, but if I get hit, then my insurance is going to cover it as well as the rest of my car that got crunched in the accident. I checked and it is farther from it since I took it off and put it back on, so problem solved. I had a lot of extra pipe on the L-shaped piece so I was able to shift the S-shaped piece farther away.

You have to do the widening using a grinder or air saw, then you have to get rubber siding to make sure the pipe is worn down by the edge of the metal. Your stock air tube is fitted perfectly, this is a round tube and obviously wont be perfect. In response to the cutting, I believe I took about 3 inches off the end of the S pipe closer to the battery, and I took about 1 inch to 1.5 inches off the end that connects to the throttle body, I might even recommend cutting 2-2.5 because of fitting reasons. It runs against some fluid thing if you look at one of my pictures. ALSO eautosource, I would not recommend. They are obviously too overloaded for their employee count. They barely communicated, and didnt leave feedback. Infact it was so difficult to contact them, I decided to stay with the 3 inch pipe, after all, unless you are making a cold air intake (50 extra bucks for the bypass valve) then you can simply by a 2-3 inch coupler for the throttle body hole. WHEW. -------------------- |

in response to your rubbing try cutting the end of aluminum that connects to the throttle body, about an inch, that should stop the rubbing.
and making the hole bigger would be easy for me but i guess not for all, o well |

Ok, your guys' pipes must've been different than mine. I didn't have any extra I could cut off on the end connecting to the throttle body. I ended up taking probably 3 inches off of the end connecting to the filter though.

I just got my CAI from eautosource delivered today. Its 2.75 in wide. Does anyone have a sound clip of CAI WITH the bypass valve?? I don't know if I'm gonna do CAI custom SRI with the kit.

I don't know if I'm gonna do CAI custom SRI with the kit. I believe 2.75 will work with the stock hole, though I am not sure. Ask around, also, If you have the money, I'd buy a bypass valve and do the CAI, you will get better HP than an un-heatshielded/airboxed SRI. .02 -------------------- |

wait, you said in one post, bypass valve=less noise, and in another thread you said bypass valve=more noise
QUOTE without it, it is still very loud both inside and outside the car vs. QUOTE mine is loud as **** without it So is it louder or quieter with the bypass valve ON? lol im so confused it must have been late when you wrote those, i always get screwed up when its late lol |

no i said the same thing in both posts...you must have just read them wrong....all im sayin is that its very loud without the bypass valve and if your only puttin it in for the noise factor its stupid because it cant be much louder.....the main reason i dont have one in besides the fact you really dont need one if you use the same cai i used is because it restrics air flow
