Hi,
I recently purchased a 1995 GT4. It has a HKS Induction kit fitted. Just have a query on it. Basically when I start the car, the engine sounds as normal. However when I press on the accelerator a noise comes into the Induction Kit. Its kind of hard to explain the exact noise, If I take my foot off the accelerator the noise will go out of the induction kit after around 20 seconds and the car sounds fine again. Then I touch the accelerator again the noise comes back into it. Is it some sort of fan or has anyone experienced this? Thanks a million, Kieran |

Its definitely not the turbo, the slightest touch of the accelerator and the noise comes into the induction kit..

If you are still worried, go to a local tuner shop and have them listen to the sound. I bet its normal. -Charlie -------------------- 2003 Subaru WRX Wagon

QUOTE(celica3sgte @ Apr 22, 2007 - 4:01 PM) Does it sound like a whistling/whining? Yep its a whistling/whining noise alright. Is this normal or should I be worried? Its more annoying than anything as when the car is idling it takes around 20-30 seconds for the noise to go, then the car sounds fine again.... Then once i slightly touch the accelerator again the noise is back! Thanks for the replies lads, I appreciate it. |

haha that whistle is your turbo spooling......you know that process happens when you touch the gas lol,
it takes 20ish seconds because the turbine has to slow back down This post has been edited by playr158: Apr 22, 2007 - 5:31 PM |

Cheers for the info. I just didnt think it was the turbo spooling up as I was just barely touching the accelerator and the noise was coming into it!
All the best, Kieran |

ok we lied to you...........its really your flux capacitor having a bad reaction with your muffler bearings....if you double check your halogen fluid that could be the cause of such bad reaction, if its low....

honestly, no clue
i was going to say something pulley related that gets thrown off w/ a applied torque, then in time settles down. . . i'm guessing since it's intake related that it's gotta be oil pressure related of some sort. No clue how or what...just a complete guess if it makes the nosie for a long period after a tap of the gas. -------------------- |

Also check the conutenary valve, they tend to stick open causing the turbo to continue sucking air through the intake! |

Get rid of it asap. The HKS induction kit is known to give problems. I've had one on mine when I bought my ST205, but it's a lousy kit. If you wan't to go for a good one, but the Apexi funnel or even the universal one. It costs 100 usd and is the best airfunnel you can get your hands on (it's actually REALLY tested by Apexi and produces quite reasonable spool-up gain on turbo's, that is when you use a CAI

This thread makes me laugh and sad at the same time. Many people in the states would give their left nut to have that sound without spending tons of extra money to add a turbo. I wish I had your problem.
