I just starteds doing my interior. Right now the car is gutted. I am keeping my backseats removed and am going to fiberglass the floor and sides all the way back to the trunk. My 12" subs are going to sit where my back seats were in between the fuel pump access. The car looks so much better without anyting in the back, like seats and seat belts. Alot bigger. Any ideas on design please feel free to discuss.

That's sort of what I did with mine apart from single sub and no fibreglass - still needs carpeting though as I only built it on Sunday laugh.gif

And before anyone comments on the harnesses - the bar is removed for ease of access and the back strap is just hanging there wink.gif

just curious, are you going to move the box in place of where the back seats were? b/c otherwise that's a lot of space to just have a fiberglass covering.

yea im gonna make 2 seperate boxes. one for each sub and mount them where the dent is for the back seats. Right inbetween the fuel pump access. then some sort of amp rack.

ohh, that should look really nice! suggestion, if I may, I would put the amp rack in between the two enclosures so you have the subs on either side of the amp. mabey tilt the amp rack too, i think that'd look pretty cool right there. just suggestion though, i'm sure when it's all done it'll look awesome however you go about it. good luck with the project. cant wait to see it when its finished smile.gif

Just a few comments here :

First, if you put something over the fuel pump access, it should be easily removable, i.e. not attached to the subwoofer boxes. It would be a bit** if you ever have to access the fuel pump.

Second, on the sound quality side of things, it's a bad idea to mount amps there as the electromagnetic field generated by the pump can induce noise in the signal cables (RCAs). Less of a problem if you're pushing subs, but if you're going to be putting full range amps there, I dunno...

Well do you think with the dynomat and the foam that would block these magnetic rays from the fuel pump?

My amps are going to be somewhat raised i think. I dunno know how for sure yet but they will be elevated on a rack, also i am going to extend my center console straight back i think to where it will cover the access panel for the fuel pump, with a panel to gain access to it.. Im drawing up some ideas now, but hey all your opinions are a big help. thanks for the info and ideas.

Um no laugh.gif It's screwed together and glued and then sealed properly - the ductape was just a last minute, hey, why don't I put some of this over the joints as an added strengthening thing laugh.gif

Box is fixed to the platform but comes out easy enough (3 bolts)

Nope. The worst thing that might happen is that you get alternator whine. As you press on the gas, you'll hear a faint whine changing frequency as the revs go up and down. But like I said, so long as you're only pushing subs it won't be a problem, those frequencies will be blocked out.
