Tips on what to look for when buying a motor Options

Im still contemplating on buying a motor set from this import company where i live. The engines look really good, no damaged, and stored nicely. The swap set comes with ecu, un-cut complete harness, motor, turbo, intercooler, all manifolds and everything for 1000. I just wanted some tips on what else to look for to make sure it has before i purchase. Once again, im not 100 % sure on EVERYTHING that i would need from a clip if i went that route, so i just want some clarification.

I have an st, and have already sourced my tranny, drive-shaft, shift cables, and mounts. what would i be loosing with going to a motor set instead of a clip, and should i be looking for anything in specific that i might need for my swap.

here is the basic deal:

clip = gives you every single part you need. since nothing has been messed with, you can label hoses and harness plugs and take pics of everything as you go. this will make reinstall into your engine bay a piece of cake. you also get tons of spare parts that come in handy or that you can resell .

engine set = cheaper, but 90% of the time, its missing the parts you are going to need to make the car run. its a great way to go if you already have a 3s under the hood and just need a new one, or if youve done a few swaps before and know exactly what goes where and whats missing. but for your average first time swapper, its a headache.

x2 for what lagos said, also if your lucky, your clip will come with additional parts you can sell. for example my clip cost me $2000 even, but it came with an immaculate hood, headlights and fenders that were slightly dinged up. I was able to sell the hood for $350, and other stuff for a couple hundred bucks. like suspension steering rack etc. Long story short after selling stuff off, i ended up paying around $1200 for the motor, which is only about $300 more than a motor by iteself would cost. So find yoursef a couple options, you might get lucky, but do not get suckered into buying a motor by itself.
