I started an aquarium, bought a new camera to start taking photography to a more serious level, and I just bought a new paintball gun and trying to get some games going.

photography is a good one, im looking for a camera at the moment, what do you all suggest for a somewhat beginner that wants a camera that will be sufficiant for a while.

paintball is good too, i used to play, but ur right it does get hard finding enough people that want to play anymore.

i too am looking for a good hobby... sorry this post didnt really answere your question.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned scale modeling. There used to be a few hobby shops by my friends house that would have all kinds of automotive scale models, costs a little money but it's cool to build that stuff.

Also, if you're good at art, take up drawing. Or something even like writing, if you're creative and like doing that type of thing.

X2, no better way to spend your time than to make a great car even better wink.gif

or you could spend a little less and do what Matt mentioned, build some model cars.

If you don't want to buy a DSLR, try Canon Powershot S3IS
You can get one for around $300 these days.
12x zoom, 6MP, shutter priority mode, aperture priority mode, manual mode, flip-up LCD screen,
30fps movie, macro to 0", mechanical image stabilizer, ultrasonic lens, and you can add adapter tube on it (for filters, etc..)
It can't get better than that.

I got my XTI, a large camera bag & extra battery from newegg.com for $750. It was the body only as I picked up a 50mm 1.8 that was $75 and I just recently bought a Canon 28-105mm which is $250.

computers are my hobby. I have a sort of computer consulting thing on the side. People come to me and ask me what they should buy, they give me a price range, and I buy the parts, build it, and then send them a bill.

Like a car - I like to be able to take it from a pile of parts and make it all work - and look good. smile.gif

but thats because I'm a computer nerd...
