Alright so here's where we are at... Last week I purchased $50 in incandescent lights and LED's for testing in the background application... and i think i've found the ones i like best... the original count for LED's was also wrong... there are four background lights at $4 each and nine indicator lights at $1 each, plus two extra little LED's i'm adding in to get rid of some of the dull spots... now thats the cost of materials ... so new price is $30 in any color you choose....
ALSO.... the red/blue heater control... if the background lights are blue... it overrides the red (blue is higher frequency) and there is no longer any red.... so if you want your background to be blue... the entire thing must be blue... however if the general background is red... i can add a white bulb in to show the blue as well... however the entire background cannot be red.... with that said... even further custom modifications can be made that could change the above but this includes a lot of my time and more $$$$, and i have never tried them so buyer beware.... they include cutting out the blue for red background or adding in spacers to remove the blue color from that region with a blue background.... these are just some of the ideas i have had... if anyone else can think of another way please let me know... PICTURES TO BE POSTED OF BLUE W/ RED AND BLUE w/ BLUE AFTER MY NEXT SET OF LED's COME IN, LOOKS LIKE WED. ALSO... if anyone has PMed me and i quoted you $25, this is still good for you guys... a quote is a quote, so supra... no worry about the extra cash This post has been edited by pittfirefighter: May 20, 2007 - 2:20 PM -------------------- Breaking Axles...

Yeah shouldn't be a problem, most Toyota stuff is pretty much universal as far as parts go and the methods they used to put together the lights... i tried to help my buddy out with his GM IMpala and i believe it was almost impossible to do in a cost effective manner, however i have not done Supra controls yet, but if you want to ship it to me then i can give a quote to you... if you decide that it won't work out, i'll ship it back to you on me -------------------- Breaking Axles...

hey guys tested units today... batteries were dead in camera, will have pics up tomorrow... shocker... LED's look great but A/C logo was a little dark so i'm going to add one more LED in to brighten it up and then yours should be good, Daftboy... hmmm, so was it you or a previous owner that took the yellow highlighter to the back of the buttons??? both knobs look great but all the buttons are... well light green kinda... haha thats what they look like to me but i'm color blind they are not as bright blue as shockers so i'm kinda disappointed so i was thinking about maybe trying to soak your buttons to get that highlighter out and then retrying... maybe more LED's? either way i'll have pics up tomorrow so take a look and let me know what you think

PICTURE TIME
NOW THESE ARE ALL BEFORE MY MOST RECENT UPDATES TO THE UNITS.... i'll explain changes at the end... One more thing... the camera doesn't show the blue and red quite as bright as they really are... much more noticeable to the naked eye SHOCKER... DAFTBOY What do you think we should do about the highlighter? you can obviously see they are not as bright as Shocker's... a few led's were added up top to brighten it up and on the a/c button cause it didn't get a lot of light at all.... pics don't show what was added, both units had LED's added to fix dull spots new pics to be added soon This post has been edited by pittfirefighter: May 25, 2007 - 2:55 PM -------------------- Breaking Axles...

Looking good.
Just a question..Did putting white leds behind the heater and a/c knob not work like we talked about to keep the red on it not work? This post has been edited by Shocker: May 25, 2007 - 3:51 PM -------------------- |

looks good how many leds? do you have aimed at the top piece of plast that goes to the 5 top buttons? looks like it could use a lil more... and who would color that stuff with high lighter??? haha uv leds would look cool then i guess cuz it would give that cool glowy effect

Wow that's beautiful. I would love to enlist your services once I find a climate control that hasn't been scarred by the cigarette lighter by it's previous owner.
Get better man, and keep up the beautiful work! -------------------- |

I would greatly appreciate it. I know thats what steers away alot of people from going away from the leds in the cc. I personaly think it would be the step above every body elses climate control boxes. But if it to much trouble dont worry about it. you already done enough for me. -------------------- |

That's a good start pittfirefighter but if you want it to look perfect you'll need to back light each button individually. The directional nature of LEDs do not make them the best solution for back lighting our climate controls. I've tried it just about any way you can think of and this is the only option I've found to be satisfactory.
BTW, Oznium has pretty good prices on their bulk 3mm LEDs. Should help your profit margin or you could pass the savings along to the customer. $2 an LED is pretty steep installed or not. http://www.oznium.com/led It'll take a little more work but as you can see the results are outstanding: This post has been edited by WannabeGT4: May 26, 2007 - 5:07 PM -------------------- Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete... |

It's $1 an LED, not $2 for the 3mm, backlight LED's are $4, thats the price i pay, i'm not trying to make any profit off of this, and as the posts say, i have added more LED's to the backlight of the unit
