ok so i found out today i have NO compression in my #4 cly. and instead of looking for what is causing it, i am just gonna put in a used 5s. So here is the ?, i need to get a smog in the next month, and i took the secondary cat. off, so would i stand a better chance passsing smog with the hurt motor or the new(er) one? it didnt pass last time with the current motor set up, but i have a friend that just passed it for me last time (dont know if he can do it this time too).

Put the new engine in, run a can or two of seafoam through it, change the plugs [check cap/rotor too] and smog it.
