ok , time for one more question , as this post says , i just changed my gauge cluster bulbs to blue LEDs , which look great , now , almost a week later one of my LEDs keep turning on and off , i dont know why ! , i had the same problem the day i did it but i interchanged the sockets and it worked fine , now before i go and take my cluster out again , can someone tell me what kind of problm i am looking at ? did i damage the circuit board ? the sockets ? i am sure it is not a bad LED , so can anything else cause this ?

I just saw this thread today and in regards to your interior lights, i have them inside and have never had any trouble with the cops. Heres a couple of pics of my interior at night:
![]() ![]() I have 2 15" neons underneath the dash, and one small one in each vent. It looks awesome at night. Heres the Underbody kit i have on my car also, its a gold series streetglow neon underbody. ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by beastman: May 23, 2007 - 10:48 PM -------------------- Former Celica Owner... Your interior look great , I am interested in knowing how you wired it up so plz tell me , as for my MAIN concern right now : my gauge cluster light , it is flickering , turning on and off and it is extremely irritating , just took the whole thing apart and did some tests , the Socket turned out to be bad , i somehow messed it up ! , so where can i get a socket !
Do i have to buy another cluster off ebay ??? This is the second time i messed up !!! i broke my climate control and had to buy a new one ! man , customizing my car is costing me alot !! ( it shouldnt , but i keep messing up ) This post has been edited by NaderG: May 23, 2007 - 11:41 PM |

the socket is bad on the LEd? do you mean the little twist base you put the led into? if that is the case you should be able buy a new base from an led site or the dealership. But if the contacts on the cluster are damaged you will ahve to get a new one, def get off of ebay much cheaper. Rule of thumb take your time, and dont try to force something if it is not fitting.
num194 five way refractor led's look great in the guage clusters, should only need 3 This post has been edited by illneversellmycelli: May 24, 2007 - 9:55 PM -------------------- ![]() |

When i started changing my bulbs I brought some white ones of ebay. they lasted about 2 weeks befor they all started to flash and some had died, it is just becaus the bulbs are cheeply made, not saying that we dont try to get the best deal but i found that the resistors were burning out in the bulbs.
I did buy some better ones but was not happy with the brightness they are grate for the out side of the car(park light), so now i have made my own LED light using better resistors and brighter LED's -------------------- Ok Gladys, lets play house, you be the door and I'll shut you.

![]() for some reason my gauges look green... they are actually a white/purple color and look brighter in real life, maybe its all that blue... the clock is also a lil bit more white, but some green leaks through, cant see in that pic i also recommend hid's from culp, great mod to night time lighting: ![]() -------------------- you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!

ok , i exhcanged the bulb several times , pretty sure it is the socket ! i looked arround for it and couldnt find it anywhere then went to the dealership and they asked for 15 $ , so i baught an entire cluster off ebay for 20 $ , to me this seems like a better deal lol , anyways , just in case my LEDs start going out , what is the best brand of LEDs that i should use ? how much do they cost and where do i get them from ?
Also, how did you guys wire those lights !! This post has been edited by NaderG: May 24, 2007 - 10:58 PM |

if the led is blinking, try pulling the 194 base led out of the twist socket a little bit
like | is bottom of the led and [ is the top open end of the twist base and ] is the bottom of the base where the led end goes isntead of it being like this: [....|] try doing this: [...|.] mine did the same thing and thats all i did and no problems since and its been a month or so autolumination has some good ones, you mainly want an led or cluster of led's that are bright and uniform so you dont have any dim spots or really bright spots -------------------- you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!

Ok , so my climate control arrived in the mail and i immediatly start to tackle the "blue" issue , painting the back of the buttns didnt give me good results , painting the bulbs didnt work ! and soldering is out of my abilities....so i went on autolummination.com and baught some bulbs for it ! they have it , the unit uses three small bulbs , i think it was NEO wedge bulbs or leds ... easier and more effective than paint and stuff, i cant wait for the to arrive in the mail so i can find out how it iwll look

neo wedge bulbs will only work well for the fan speed selector and the inside/outside air button, if used, the a/c switch wont light, and the top 5 buttons will be dim, the defroster button has its own little bulb in there separatly as well. soldering isint too hard with practice, if you can solder well, it turns any wire job into a clean one cuz everything can be heat shrinked and look like its supposed to be there instead of a twist n tape type of job. if you want to do your cc unit yourself id look to get a bunch of led's and aim them at their respective areas to give maximum lighting besthongkong.com is a good site, bright bulbs cheap. youll have to calculate out resistance depending on how many leds you end up using. id use 3 for the temp select, one for the top 5 buttons, 2 for the fan speed OR a neo wedge bulb, one for the inside out selector, one for the a/c button and one for the defroster button. if you want to change the indicator lights theres another 9 that are needed. that will give you a VERY nice cc unit, but hey, go the extra mile and do it right the first time. pittfirefighter also will hook you up with a modded cc unit. all depends on if you want to diy or send it out for someone else to do it for you

I havent done anything to my car in about a month and i need to start working on something ! lol , well , i think my next project would be to reupholster the seats with two tone leather ( silver and black) , got quoted from several shops and it would cost me 800 bucks ! too much ! ... i noticed a how to for seat re-upholster , the how-to makes it sound too easy , i was wondering if anybody done it ? how hard was it ? what is a seam ripper ?? what kind of string did you use to sew it all up ? if i dont have a sewing maching , is it worth buying one ?
since i am trying to tackle a 2-seater conversion , i saw that on a bunch of mustangs and i think its cool but i havent had any success getting any help from fellow 6gc-ers , i will only need to do my front seats thanks for everybody's help ! |
