Seeing as how that 5 oz. of coffee can naturally have up to 160mg of caffeine, I bet the body can consume a lot of caffeine safely.

i honestly think you caffiene drinkers should do a little research of what you're putting copious amounts of into your body. Start here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caffeine

According to wikipedia.

"An acute overdose of caffeine, usually in excess of 250 milligrams (more than 2-3 cups of brewed coffee), can result in a state of central nervous system overstimulation called caffeine intoxication. The symptoms of caffeine intoxication may include restlessness, nervousness, excitement, insomnia, flushing of the face, increased urination, gastrointestinal disturbance, muscle twitching, a rambling flow of thought and speech, irregular or rapid heart beat, and psychomotor agitation..

Wow... luckily though, death doesn't occur until about 150 mg/kg.. which for me is 11 550 mg.

Check this picture out which depicts a normal spider web, and a spider web made by a spider on caffiene:

I usually have 1-2 cups of coffee a day. heres what I have found...
QUOTE
The latest research has not only confirmed that moderate coffee consumption doesn't cause harm, it's also uncovered possible benefits. Studies show that the risk for type 2 diabetes is lower among regular coffee drinkers than among those who don't drink it. Also, coffee may reduce the risk of developing gallstones, discourage the development of colon cancer, improve cognitive function, reduce the risk of liver damage in people at high risk for liver disease, and reduce the risk of Parkinson's disease. Coffee has also been shown to improve endurance performance in long-duration physical activities.

However, as the September issue notes, coffee is not completely innocent. Caffeine, coffee's main ingredient is a mild addictive stimulant. And coffee does have modest cardiovascular effects such as increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, and occasional irregular heartbeat that should be considered. Studies have been largely inconclusive regarding coffee and its effect on women's health issues such as breast health, cancer, and osteoporosis. But, the negative effects of coffee tend to emerge in excessive drinking so it is best to avoid heavy consumption. Moderation is key.

I don't mind the negative side effects, I have abnormally low blood pressure/heart rate anyway wink.gif
