Im kinda thinkin i wanna start another project car soon. I wanna have somethin to work on/build over the next 2 years in my spare time to make into my next daily driver. I love the celica, but i think after im done buildin it, im gonna wanna move up to somethin quicker aswell as somethin bigger. I wanna stick with either a Toyota or I might do a BMW toyota hybrid. Im either thinkin of using a MKIII Supra chassis, AE101 4door early 90s corolla chassis, Mid 90s v6 camry coupe chassis, E30 318I 2door BMW or an early 90s 5 series. I have a lead on a good rolling chassis E30 that needs work on the drivetrain, a running AE101, and maybe a MKIII supra. For each of the chassis ive thought of a motor i wanna put in, interior mods, etc.
MKIII Supra: Momo seats, 1JZ swap, LSD *probably 1.5way*, big sleeper, IE no body kit, no fancy paint, no signs of power. AE101: Blacktop 20V 4AGE with a 6spd LSD tranny, STAK gauges, Momo seats, harness bar, lowered, white on gold/bronze rims, shave the emblems, keep it really clean sleeper styled. Mid 90s V6 Camry: Millen Motorsports front end, TRD supercharger, 5spd *if not already* conversion, minor lip kit, scepter tail lights, dark blue paint. E30: 3SGTE w/ W50 Tranny *hense the toyota*, M3 rear flaired fenders, LSD, MOMO seats. Early 90s 5 series: 1JZ, lowered, big wide rims. Thats it. As you can see im thinkin of going with the more sleeperish style, going with cars that arent the quickest, arent nessasrly the best looking, and wouldnt make you look twice. I also want somethin that i can more than me, and a passanger in comfortably. Any ways, what do you guys think? I think im gonna finish up with my celica in August and then im thinkin of startin it then. I was gonna build up my 83 Celica, but i think im just gonna finish up the body work and a few small repairs and thats it. |

I'm all about that AE101! Or even the MKIII Supra. <---Sexy! They'd look hot, even as sleepers.

Triscuit I had an MKIII supra when i was 17 that was a big POS. It rusted out on me in like 3 weeks, but now i actually know how to do repairs and work on my car so even if i got a decent condition one, i can still do all the work. But im thinkin the AE101 would be kinda fun. They are light weight in the first place, relativaly small, could make it fly pretty good with the 20V in it. |

The E30 or Corolla sounds sweet. I think I'd rather turbo a 20v motor than have a fancy gauge cluster though.
Do you have the fabrication/wiring skills necessary to put a Toyota motor in a Bimmer? That sounds like quite the difficult project. Weren't you getting a Skyline though? What ever happened with that? -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

I actually considered getting an E30 and putting an E36 M3 motor in it. My first car that I actually drove was an 84 318i.
On a sidenote: my new project is a 00' Wrangler that I have a 2'' lift going on soon and will be putting some MT Classic IIs on with 33'' tires. If anybody is into that kinda thing. This post has been edited by Supersprynt: May 17, 2007 - 10:51 AM -------------------- |

Do you have the fabrication/wiring skills necessary to put a Toyota motor in a Bimmer? That sounds like quite the difficult project. Weren't you getting a Skyline though? What ever happened with that? I think id eventually turbo it, but i love stak gauges and it would be easier to wire up the stak compaired to OEM gauges. And yes i do have the fabrications and wiring skills, just i dont have the time/tools to do it. I can weld with any thing *MIG, TIG, Stick, Oxy asetaline*, i can wire pretty good too, my father is a mechanical engeneer and a liscence electrician. And the skyline, the MTO *ministery of transportation ontario* and the gouvernment are trying to change the laws regarding importing and imported vehicles. They are plannin on changing the laws from 15 years old to the month to 25 years old to the month. So even if i got a skyline b4 they changed the law, i would b paying a big big big insurance bill yearly. As is, skylines are expensive on cost and insurance, but with the laws changing its gonna b like 5 or 6 times worse. Plus im gonna b making more $ sellin them now then keepin one. So far ive made around $1300 on commision for selling 3 of them with my buddy in the last 3 months. Might be making another $400 on the weekend now 2..lol. But yea, its gonna b to much of a hassel, plus RHD is fun to drive on occasion, but i dont think i want a RHD for a daily driver. Plus skylines only have room for people in the front..lol. Their backseats are alot like mine now, mostly for show. |

How much money you got to spend? And... shouldn't you be worried about getting your celica fixed first?

And... shouldn't you be worried about getting your celica fixed first? Im thinkin of investing up to $6K on this project, and my cars almost fixed. I got alot of the work that needs to/wanted to be done on it done already. All thats really left is a small amount of motor work, some small exteiror mods and gettin a new sunroof and shes pretty much done. I got about another $1000 or so left on it. |

QUOTE(Akimbo @ May 20, 2007 - 3:16 AM) You always talk about getting a new car Yea, but now i can afford one..lol. I havent worked for almost a year now cuz of my schooling. But by the end of next month ill b out workin 40+ hours a week making between $15-22/Hr, so i figure ill have some disposable income coming in that i can play around with. Plus ive been wanting somethin a bit bigger than the celi for awhile now. Dont get me wrong, i love it, just it sucks when i go out grocery shopping and i fill my entire trunk and back seats with grocery bags, or when i go out to the bars with my friends and i can only take 1 other person with me cuz my back seat is un-usable. I just wanna build somethin cheaply, but somethin that will last me a few years without any majour problems. Im still leanin hard on the AE101 idea just because parts are cheap. Like if i wanted to, i could go out buy complete brakes for it, wheel bearings, ball joints and tie rod ends for under $400, where as my car i spent nearly $400 on just the rear wheel bearings alone. |
