I've installed a Code Alarm CA-160 upon seeing a couple people here with them who seemed to like them. Everything working for the most part, and it was pretty easy to replace an existing (old and dying Prestige).
I just have a couple problems that I'm trying to figure out. 1. Parking lights do not work when arm/disarming. I've tapped into the same wire used by the old alarm, which worked at one time then one day stopped blinking the lights. Parking lights do not work after installing the new alarm. 2. Same issue with unlocking the doors when disarm.. the door switch works, but doesn't unlock the doors all the time. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Are there fuses or relays that could be causing the kind of problem or is it just electrical shorts I'm probably dealing with? |

are you using the same wiring as the prestege alarm?
each alarm works differently, so the same wireing will not work for all alarms. can you tell us where you tap the wires? |

Same as the Prestige, everything was pretty much plug and play, spliced existing wires. Parking Lights+ dk. green at dimmer Parking Lights- lt. green steering column Power Lock blue/black - lock module right of column Power Unlock blue and green - lock module right of column (using both, diode isolated) The one in the driver's kick panel is for the door open trigger as I recall ... is there another wire i could use in there for the parking lights or power locks? |

you need relays for the parking lights to work. I think the current output from the alarm is not strong enough to light all 6 lights. Anyway get two relays wire them together and they should work.

The problem can be caused by the alarm it self not have a built in-relays for each output. Another cause is the orginal wires he spiced into is messed up. When you said spliced. Did you just connect your new alarm wires with your OLD alarm WIRES?

Anyway get two relays wire them together and they should work. The relay idea will work. But it is not needed at the dimmer switch because you are taping into the the factory relays. So the current draw is not to the 6 lights bulbs but just a relay. |

I connected the new alarm wires to the old alarm wires for the parking lights, yes. I should probably make new splices.
