I've installed new 6.5 speakers (replacing the OEM speakers) and simply drilled holes into the plastic speaker assembly in my car.
Do I want to go purchase some mounting brackets and seal the speakers in there? This post has been edited by estaticd: May 30, 2007 - 9:10 PM |

well turn them on and see if they are fine,i would think they have the goop there so when you are the stereo turned up the speaker doesnt vibrate and make noice while it rattles around.

Same - I did that with my rear speakers but they sounded okay so i left it.
I used the brackets in the front because they were cheap and i wanted my speakers held in securely because the door gets slammed and stuff. Over time they could come loose. -------------------- 94 Celica ST - CAI, CarPuter, many interior mods!
