I have a 7afe engine they fans recently stopped working, I replaced the coolant teperature sensor, thermostat this did not fix the problem. I came to find out it was a bad relay later. My smart ass decided to wire both fans diretly to the fuse box ignition connection in the engine bay, thinking this would give me better cooling.
Well recently my battery has been draining out after I run the car for a few minutes the battery voltage falls below 12. Is a direct connefction to the fans from the ignition a good idea or does it drein way too much power ????? -------------------- www.cardomain.com/id/snakesolid

you do realize you dont need the fans on when your driving past 30mph?
the air coming through the grill is enough to cool your car. |

yes
:edit: generally its a bad idea to wire the fans directly to the ignition because your 1) wearing out your fans, 2) your adding extra stress to your alternator. Low voltage can be a sign of a battery/alternator on its way out. This post has been edited by Hanyo: May 24, 2007 - 12:52 AM |

Thanks for the info, I'll have to check that on my car as the fan on my 3SGE doesn't work either! ![]() ![]() -------------------- ![]() |
