also, I have an interview tomorrow at America's Tire Co. so I'm pretty excited. I couldn't think of anything better than getting paid to work on cars smile.gif

That sucks. I worked at Discount Tires for 2 and a half years. It was fun while it lasted but gets old real quick.

I wish I had an update to give. the guy with my turbo keeps having excuses as to why he hasn't shipped yet... like his grandmother died confused.gif yesterday he said his girlfriend would be shipping it for him. so it either shipped yesterday or it'll be going out today (hopefully). I'm very disappointed.

the car runs good and everything it just doesn't boost. the only reason I haven't been driving it is because it's so loud and I don't want to get pulled over for being so loud and then being asked to pop my hood for the cop to see an illegal turbo... although, I heard some turbos are legal? if any turbo were to be legal, I would assume it'd be the kind that came from another car (MR2T). but I dunno, anybody know the california law on turbo-ing a non-turbo car? but anyway, I was thinking about maybe calling the exhaust shop today to make an appointment to get my exhaust on so I can at least drive my car again. it really sucks driving a honda... especially one with 102 crank hp and the only sound system is a cassette player so I have to listen the radio. ugh. I find myself down-shifting a lot on the freeway, and sometimes flooring it just to maintain a speed of 75 mph. the only thing I like about it, is that it takes about $26 to fill up with gas as opposed to my celica which can be $40-45, especially now that it only can take premium. lol

about the job, I got it, took the drug test (which I'm positive I would pass), and they said they would call me when they got the results of the drug test, they said early this week... but here it is wednesday and no call... I'm gonna go in there today or tomorrow to see what's going on with this job thing then.

In california, you can turbo a non turbo car if you have all the necessary equipment from a stock turbo car, which include all STOCK ONLY hardware. Can't be any other modifications, such as aftermarket parts. So if u got a FMIC, it ain't legal cuz the stock turbo mr2 has a TMIC. but anyway, the list may consist of stock: dp, turbo, manifold, sensors, oil lines, coolant lines, intercooler, bov, intercooler piping ( i believe for the stock one, there are only 2 pipes which we'rent longer than 4 inches or so lol.), air filter, etc... i may be forgettin a couple.

actually, the alltrac had a TMIC, the MR2 actually has a SMIC or side-mount-inter-cooler. IC pipes are still only like a foot or 2 long though.

so that makes the only illegal things on my car the downpipe, FMIC, and intake. woot! lol

Finally got an exhaust on it. 3" turbo back, under-axle, w/ magnaflow high flow cat and magnaflow race-series muffler. The flex section he gave me is really small though , I hope that'll be ok? only thing is, I think it's crush bent. but oh well, it was only $208 and I think it's great! sounds real low, not ricy at all. inside the car it's still pretty quiet, which kinda disappointed me, but then I stood outside the car and revved it and it's pretty loud so I'm happy smile.gif it seems like getting the exhaust on smoothed out my AFR too, it was jumping all around and now it stays steadier, which should make it easier to tune. it's already mostly tuned just needs some adjustments. and I have to wait to get the new turbo on to tune the Hi-throttle. I had "borrowed" somebody elses on here's settings and it got me about 11.2-11.3 AFR through all the RPMs at full throttle, that's almost exactly where I want it, but now that I have no boost, when I floor it the AFR shoots to 10.0 which is as rich as my gauge reads so it's probably richer like 9 or even 8. I'm sure it's cause there is no turbo force-feeding it air. lol. anyway I get the new turbo on thursday and I'm gonna try to get it all together in time for a meet on thursday night. I'll keep you guys updated.

Ok everyone, the update you've all been waiting for. My car has got the new turbo on it and is boosting! it seems this turbo boosts alot more quickly then the other one, which is understandable because the other one was on it's way out and when I removed it I tried to spin the compressor wheel with my finger and it wouldn't even budge! of course, I ran into a whole new set of problems now... everytime I boost a shyteload of blue smoke comes from under my hood, and yesterday my oil pressure got super low and the oil pressure light on my dash lit up. I pulled over immediately at a gas station and put a couple quarts in, the oil pressure was still low, but eventually it went back up and the oil light went away. when i pulled over there was a small puddle of oil under my car too. so I have some kind of oil leak or something. I lifted my car, started it, and got under it today and I notice it has a slow drip (like one drop every 45-60 seconds) coming from the oil pan. it's also leaking somewhere else because the drip I found was at a corner of the oil pan but I also saw some oil getting onto my exhaust pipe... I think I might also be leaking from the rubber elbow on my oil drain line. is there someway that these 2-3 very small oil leaks could get waay worse under boost?

it's hooked up like stock. same with the other vent out the side of the valve cover. both are routed to my intake manifold. could that be burning the oil? should I get a catch can? if yes, then for one or both?

anyway, I found another oil leak. coming from the side of my oil pan... yep the guy who I bought my oil pan from had taken a chunk of metal and used JB weld around the edge to block off the sensor adaptor and it's starting to leak from there. so now I gotta take the oil pan back off and chisel away some JB weld. I know they make a block off plate for that thing now, but it's $45, so I'll probably have a friend weld it for free.

I'll get pics tomorrow or the next day. I'm fricken tired right now.

you are pressuizing your crankcase.
as long as your PCV valve is in good working order, you "should" be able to leave that connected normally. and just run the other hose that goes to the intake manifold to a catch can, then a hose from the can to your intake, PRE TURBO.

well... if that's true, I only have a flexible hose from kragen, pretty much the same as what presure2 is using, I don't see how I could hook anything up to it. How is your PCV system hooked up manny?

Jeff, actually I wasn't referring to you, I have like 2 other people with welders who said they could help me. but if for whatever reason they can't, you just might get a call from me. lol

Kind of a side question, but what is the difference between a silicone hump coupler and a silicone coupler? besides the obvious fact that there is a hump, what is the advantages ?

check your PM, I was wondering if I could use a one way check valve to keep from pressurizing my crankcase.
