Hey everyone, i just finished my first trunk layout and painting most of my dash, i cant really say that im totally finished because there are still some visible wires and i need to get a celica emblem and a trd emblem to accent the subs, but for the most part i done out of funds and energy lol. I plan on picking it back up in a couple of weeks though so advice is appreciated!

The dash paint came out pink on my camera for some reason, it looks really fruity lol, trust me the real dash is safty red, it looks 10x better than in the pics...

The left switch is to fool the DVD player into thinking my parking break is pulled, so i can just hit the switch 2x and watch movies while driving (anyone who has installed dvd players in dash knows what im talking about). The right switch is to turn on and off the amp.

Dirty... I know

Advice is greatly appreciated. I also need to know a good place to mount tweeters because the sound difference they make is significant. thanks

Please dont flame about the brand names, im only 17 and scrape up $80 a week dishwashing...

not bad thumbsup.gif i was thinking of installing tweeters in the top third of the A pillars instead of the normal mirror cap/cover triangle thing

for your amps power cable you could prolly run it through the center console and then hide it under the carpet piece from the back of the console to under the rear seat, a little easier than jamming it in the door sill area, i have my amp under my seat then just shielded the sub's wires very well and ran those around the drivers side of the car, grounded amp nicely to one of the seat bolts

and how on earth do you only need one switch for your dvd???? guessing an early gen model? i had to do a little "dance" with 2 switches for mine: s1-on s2-on s2-off s2-on s1-off

i have a box rigged to do this automatically now when the radio turns on but what a joke figuring that combo out...

i also think you should smoothen out the factory speaker grills there in the front door, a lil rough around the inner edge, but over all i like it! any night shots?

i could get night shots but i dont think it would be special, both my neons got kicked and fell out/broke, the switches dont light up and the trunk still doesnt have any neons frown.gif

I was thinkin about smoothing the speaker grills out with fiberglass maybe

think that would work?

and i feel you on the dvd switch, i was reading how-to's online and some models are a real pain, but yea all i have to do is flip it off, then on the off then on.

Not to bad...

Thanks man

i had that same problem but unfortunetaly i have no answer, i dont know anyone who has gotten that piece out without breaking it. I just cut a piece of red vinyl out and stuck it over the piece while it was still in the car. If anyone knows how to get it out though i would really like to know cuz it would look way nicer painted.

you guys could do a search, but you just need to pull/pry it out. there are two tabs on the bottom that really hold it in there, you'll probably break them, but the vent will still go in fine.

searches on this site give you too many broad results, and most of the searches just returned people asking the same question.

my thoughts:

hide that power cable on the passenger side - theres tons of room on that side for cables

good idea with the vinyl and the passenger vent!
