Nice link.... I remember having "the Dragon" on my first Celica (actually, was my first car as well - a '75 ST, inherited from my father when I graduated from college in '79) ... I sort of remember reading somewhere that it's supposed to be a "dragon boat" , as the president of Toyota (or some higher up.... Kiichi Toyoda) was supposedly a fan of dragon boat racing - something they do in Japan, I suppose ? Who knows, but... I like the old dragon emblems, for sure. and I loved my old school Celi - wish I'd kept it, looking back...<sigh> oh, well. Loving my 5th gen vert, anyways biggrin.gif

Yeah, really ...... was whatever bright red paint they offered that year, PLUS (and this was "odd" I think) my old ST had a black vinyl top on it (very uncommon, I'd have to say, for Japanese autos...LOL). I would've liked to have kept it, but I had thrown a rod or something - side of block had a crack in it and it leaked and burned oil like crazy after that (still ran pretty good for, apparently, 3 cylinders wink.gif )

quick question.. when the supra and celica split up.. The Supra kept the "Dragon" and many say the celica turned into a "Swan" The dragon representing the power of the Supra and the Swan with the finess of the Celica..

OT: The MKI MR2s badge looks like a crazy chicken more than an eagle.

QUOTE
The Toyota Celica Supra was a sports car/grand tourer produced by Toyota Motor Company from 1979 to 2002. The styling of the Toyota Celica Supra was derived from the Toyota Celica, but it was both longer and wider.[3] Starting in mid-1986, the Supra (in its third generation, MKIII) became its own model and was no longer based on the Celica.

I don't think the Supra (Not Celica Supra, but just Supra) EVER carried the Dragon logo. The Dragon logo has always represent the Celicas or the Celica Supras....
