Well, I'm going to start making Currenesque tails for the coupe pretty soon. I've started and they are looking good. I'd probably sell them for about $70 a set. Anybody interested?

I wouldn't worry about the Curren tails getting played out. There aren't many Celica owners and even fewer with Coupes. Even fewer know about the curren tails and even fewer can afford them. I know I'll never buy them for my coupe. I'd say maybe a few hundred people across the U.S. may end up with them, so you will still have a very unique car whereever you're from, especially compared to Hondas, etc. It seems like everyone has something when you meet online, but when you get off line us Celica owners are pretty spread out.

so is the 3s swap. and the shogun kit. and um...yeah. . again, not name calling, just judging your character. if someone else gets the same thing, hey, be like, TIIIIIIGHT we like the same thing. . like the JDM headlights..i got em, and i don't care who else gets em, they're still tight ass. and no, curren coupe tails are not going to become like euro tails for the civic. not many people will take the time to research and find a source from japan and actually order and wait for them, and pay the price that they will probably need to pay. just like you, you just got lucky and got them off ebay. -John- -------------------- |

yeah, that's just what happens tho. i'm sympathetic, but like, getting JDM tails for the hatch, which is the same thing, i mean, they are tight as hell, and i can't deny anyone who wants to get them. our cars are rare enough anyway, that something as trivial as tail lights aren't going to make or break you at a show. also, the curren tails are very similar to the coupe ones, it's not like the US hatch tails vs the US jdm tails, so i mean, i understand where you are coming from, but in terms of showing your car, i really don't think it will have any affect. -------------------- 1994 Lexus ES300

I also thought about that. It is expensive to get these tails. I think super paid around $300 off of ebay. I'm paying WWAAAAAAYYYY more for them. Then the whole kuya thing, yeah i know that he is doing a lot of CUSTOM stuff, but so am i. There are only about 2-3 people that really know my entire project. And the Curren tails are part of the customizing. So I'm sorry if you guys think we are acting like pricks, bastards, a$$@#L3s or w/e. But its just WE want to be different. Super, kuya, myself and everyone here. My $0.02 |

well, i consider my car to be different and unique, and i have JDM hatch tails. but so do like 30 other people, i just think they are fly, so do a lot of people... but dude, don't worry about it. i bet no more than like 20 people ALL over the country end up with curren tails even after the part numbers are out. -------------------- 1994 Lexus ES300

Ok well on the character thing, its tough judging character over the internet, especially on one topic ya kno? I'm a good guy i swear, this is just something i feel strongly about, and yeah you guys make good points and I respect all of it and all u guys, and im not trying to make enemies, even tho im sure theres a few that now hate my guts.
On the other played out things, yeah the Invader kit is hella played out, but i already have that and i cant really do ne thing about it now, especially since the other kits are all from japan and waaaaaay expensive. The 3s swap - its talked about alot, and on the celica.net website i think theres almost 30 with it done, and thats including all other generations. Granted, thats not EVERYONE, but its probably a good ball park figure. These things are getting long, so lets move on. They're coming out in a few days. -------------------- |

The simple answer... just don't post about your project... that's why I've just been observing lately on the boards... I'm tired of people giving me beef for little crap like this... so my solution is to just simply not advertise anything about my projects... If people want to do something that I worked hard for at discovering... I'd want them figure it out on their own rather than leeching off my hard work. People need to learn to do some work and research rather than expecting to be spoon every single time the catch a snag... Just my $0.02 (and one of the occasional that everyone will be reading from now on)... People might think I'm even more a dick after reading this... but oh well... at least I know that all the people that know me in person would beg to differ... John and I are currently trying to do the 4agze swap. What if John was a dick about it? Didnt help me out at all? The point of this place is community. I dont think that having JDM tails is gonna make u all that unique. The way i figure it, John and I will be one of 2 people in the world the 6th gen celica w/ the 4agze. That's something. Will it last? I doubt it. I'll gladly help anyone who ask me questions even tho i probably wont be able to answer them. I am sure John intends to keep answerin peoples questions. I think kuya is right, and that if you dont want anyone to copy off of you just dont post about it. But as you can see, there still isnt as much originality in these tails cuz, they're off of a stock car in japan, and other people can get them just as easy. If you want something really original the only way you are gonna get it is to start playing with fiberglass. I dont hate any of you guys, i just think that it's futile to hold out on something like that. I dont know, maybe i'm just rambling....

yea forreal if you can just buy it (given that u have to find the numbers) i dont see ne thing wrong with it. plus i want my fellow celica owners to represent toyotas to the fullest and show those wannabe hondas wat we made of.
unless its something completely custom then i understand... |

And what people fail to understand is that if everyone did represent their car to their fullest... and everyone did the same thing(s) to their Celica's... we won't be any different from those Civic / Integ owners... All you'll be hearing is... damn... that's played out... damn... that's rice... damn... all those Celica's look the same ... etc... This is why I have high respect for those that have done their own research and their own dirty work to make their cars unique and stand out from the rest. |

Or paid the most money? EDIT: I just spent about the last two hours E-mailing about 50 people with 96+ Currens. I'm sure one of them will be willing to give me the part numbers. Jon This post has been edited by FallenHero: Aug 1, 2003 - 11:07 PM |

Kuya is in a different category. I didn't see his pics originally, but if he thinks people will copy his originality then thats ok in my books - Doesn't bother me in the slightest. But the fact is that our cars are already rare, and finding parts for them can be hard. Super, the only reason I can think of for you to not give em out is that you went through a lot of pain to get those part numbers. Did someone just give them to you? I really want to know the answer to that question. Are you a hypocrit?
I don't want to go on repeating what other people have said, hell, I'm not even going to get the lights. I just can't understand how you spend so much time in this community learning from others and teaching them as well, and hold back when people ask you for help. Our cars aren't like civics, most people don't even know what they are. It probably means **** to you, and I do believe you are a good person, but as an "internet entity" you've lost respect from me and others I'm sure - over something fairly minor. I think the problem should be solved once and for all by the mods adding all JDM / Alltrac parts to the parts database WITH NUMBERS. Oh PS to kuma:
The whole point of this website is to help people enjoy their 6th gen. The part database and how-to articles are there to help people with projects and sourcing parts. From your statement, maybe Coomer should delete those sections? I understand what your saying, but there is a difference between paying a shop to fit out your car, and giving someone some part numbers - they still have to source the parts, order them, wait long periods of time for them, install them, and enjoy them. Also if you have looked at OReO's gt4 pictures thread you would know that projectors and JDM tails are hardly unique - there are thousands of cars with them. Me hold back? HAHA... Why don't you perform a SEARCH for topics associated with my board name to determine how much info and feedback I've provided to this community. If you honestly feel that I've been holding back and not helping out, well my friend, you obviously haven't spent enough time on this board over the past couple months reading what I've posted. It appears that your attitude towards me has been developed over recent posts that I've made in regards to sharing info about my sideskirts. However, I honestly think you should take some time and read the OTHER posts that I've made over the past couple of months. I understand what this board (and the many others that are like it) is for and I've been making contributions. You speak as if all I've been doing is brag about my accomplishments, ignoring those who ask for assistance. I've had people PM me and I've responded with (accurate) information. Nevertheless, you don't know me and I don't know you. So let's cut the "let's judge Kuya" act. You know, if you lived here in the states, I'm sure you would have a totally different outlook on this miniscule debate, considering that the 205 was never released here to the states.. But since you don't, I can understand why you think the way you do. I can respect that, your personality, and you as a person since attitudes are influenced by culture, society, and simply where you live. However, I would like to know if YOU can respect why I (along with many others) have this type of attitude towards withholding CERTAIN (not ALL) information? If not, you have a lot to learn in life. |

Well when you guys say that as of right now you are the only 2 people with curren tailights on a celica coupe I think you are wrong. Not to be mean, or say im a pro at cars or anything, but think about it.. of all the celicas in the US I honestly think there are more then 2 of you who have slapped some curren taillughts on your car.
my .02 cents. p.s. kuya has answered many a questions on this board, many of which have helped me. I believe he has every right to keep his ideas to himself. Its not like hes on the board being useless, hes spreading his knowledge of cars, just not his own personal ideas. |

The numbers will be posted eventually. Hell I talked to a curren owner today and found out that the ZS curren and TRD model were the only ones that came with the nice tail lights.
The numbers will be posted eventually, so why keep fussing with eachother? If people say they won't post up the numbers. Well, then you give your opinion and go on your way. I would love to have those numbers personally. and I have said that many times. Going around calling names and crap isn't going to help us find the numbers. Sure it'd be hella easier if one of the people on here would post them up, but it's obviously not going to happen. SO, go search the web for 96-98 Curren ZS and TRD model owners, and ask them to do you a favor. My $.02 Jon |
