What was wrong before he replaced the thermostat?
Was it the same symptom, overheating?
Did he replace the thermostat with a new/used/correct one?
If the thermostat is stuck closed, the car will over heat, fast.

Is the coolant level low after it overheats? Even if there is no visible leak, you can still lose coolant through the head gasket. If the coolant level is fine, it could be the water pump. A busted water pump could cause overheating even with plenty of coolant.

alright well what if it isnt the water pump and the coolant level is good??? they told him that it could be that his head gasket is ****ed or if he has an aluminum head, it could be warped??? this make sense???

It is overheating either because it is losing coolant or the coolant isn't circulating. A warped head or leaking head gasket would result in coolant loss, plus you can check the oil for signs of coolant. If the coolant level is fine, the only other way it could overheat is if the coolant does not circulate. This can be caused by a broken water pump or a clog somewhere in the cooling system (or the thermostat, but you just replaced that). If there is good coolant level and the water pump is fine, you might want to try a cooling system flush to dissolve any scale deposits.

I'm not sure but could it be his temp sensor is bad?
