Auto To Manual, curious Options

OK, so i'm not definate on whether i'm going to go with an auto to manual tanny swap or not yet. However i am very curious as to how much the whole swap would cost...iv'e always had auto trannys in my cars and i think it might be time to switch it up and drive with a manual.

I drove my friend's Chevy S10 earlier today and i must say, it felt good to be able to shift. Then as i was driving my car back home, i realized that the automotic is just ehh.

The only downsides i can see are having to get used to shifting, which comes with practice, and the fact that i live a city with a LOT of hills and traffic .

so, for those of you who have done a swap, do you know how much it would cost/ how hard it would be to o the swap myself?

edit: also i wanted to turbo my 5sfe sometime down the line. So would there be any complications with shifting and turbo lag?

its not hard at all if you have all the parts. I have a list of parts and part numbers but they are for an ST. the parts list itself would be the same, but the part numbers wouldn't. I could post my list if you want.

it ended up costing me just under $1000 in parts (only because I didn't know I could have gotten a lot of things new for a good price)
and about 3 days in Manny's (presure2) moms garage (only because I was still missing some parts since nobody could answer my questions adequately while I was searching for parts)

if Tina knows how much she just spent on parts that would be a more accurate approximation for you.

just looked into my little celica spending book lol and parts came out to be $1060 just for the auto-manual stuff.

i still have to add up how much i've spent on parts so far. I have receipts for everything so i have to add it all. I think around 700ish?

if your new to driving a stick, hills and traffic may SEEM like they would be a problem . but after a few months of driving, youll realize how silly that is. i live in manayunk. its about as close to sanfrancisco style hills as youll get on the east coast, and i never once thought it was an issue.

my advice is to find someone with a manual car who will let you practice a little. I've driven a few members 6gcs that are manual and i feel more comfortable in them. i think because it's he same car.

well most of the people i know have autos, so it's hard to find someone that'll let me practice in thier car. and the friend who's truck i drove yesterday is leaving into the Navy really soon, so thats kinda out of the question. However, i think after a while of havin to use a manual on a daily basis, it would eventually become second nature and be no big deal.

19. Brake pedal and pad (no bracket, springs, or bolts needed)

23. Fork (may come with the transmission)
