Im gonna be installing my new speakers in my doors on friday and im just trying to figure out how to get em off and if the adaptors i got with my speakers will fit.

this is the adaptor i got with the speakers, they are 6.5" JBLs
IPB Image

would that work with the front speakers?? I remember there was somethin strange about the size of the front speakers and most ppl had to order thouse adaptor plates off the net.

Any ways, back to the door pannel question, im guessin there is thouse 2 or 3 clips at the front, taking off the door handel cup, and then im lost there. Is it just clips???

Any help would be great. Thanks

Bryan

Ok,
First, as you said take out the screw in the handle cup and remove that.
Then take out the large gold screw inside there holding the panel in place.
Then, there are two screws under the two round pop off cover caps near the front of the panel.
One screw in the hole in the armrest
4 screws along the bottom edge
3 small round clips on the outside edge
then lift up and remove

I think that's all of em mate smile.gif

EDIT: Before removing, prise up the elec window switch panel from the back edge, and the red light, and disconnect them.

IIRC the original speakers are 20cm, you'll just have to try them i think. If they don't work out, you might have to make a ring out of MDF or something, fix the speaker to that, then screw that to the housing.

When you do get round to it, PM me to let me know how it went. I've gotta get round to doing the same job on my car. I'm a bit worried about re-fitting my door panels though cos they never seem to go back properly!

Don't worry bout the panels, there are loads of screws to hold it in place. It won't rattle.

Bit off-topic but i changed my rears yesterday with THESE Awesome! massive difference in clarity.

and they fit Perfectly, holes line up and everything biggrin.gif

Cheers mate,

I've gotta get it done soon, my front left speaker sounds as gritty as hell at any decent volume and it's driving me nuts! Think i'll do what you've done and get some 20cm drivers for the front doors, that should sound pretty sweet I reckon.

so progress, i finaly got aorund to measuring the speaker mounts, and the ones i have posted up top, go up to 7 3/4", aka 19.86CM, so they might work. So either tonight or tomorrow im gonna strip the door skins off and try and see if they mount up.

just remember that if they dont... all you have to do is either buy one of those plastic chopping boards or 9mm mdf wood and arm yourself with a drill and jigsaw.

divide 16 by 2.54...

That'll be 6.299 inches then.

I dont know about you guys but the first time i took off my door panels it was in the winter, and i had a hell of a time getting them back on at the top, The next time i did it it was in the summer and i had the windows down, Much easier goes in no trouble, i suggest any door mods taking off the panel try it with the windo dow it makes for an easier time when replacing it. Just to let you guys know, i didnt know if anyone has figured this out before me
