getting a cbr 600rr Options

this is my first bike and i am wondering if this is too much for a novice? i do plan on taking the chp course on riding and taking baby steps when it comes to riding. i am very responsible and know if dont respect the bike for a spilt second that can be my ass. all the being said do u think its rasonable to go out and buy a brand new 2007 cbr 600rr? and please dont hold back i rather u guys be blunt then me get hurt or something like that.

a 600rr is ok, long as you have your head about you. I do not however suggest buying a new one. You have a great chance of dropping it/wrecking it (most starters do) and you'll bust up the fairings/ect on a brand new bike that you just paid a good amount for. Go on craigslist or something and look for a 600rr thats a little older and used

600 is fine, the fact that its new is a bad idea. Get a learner bike. I have about half a dozen friends that ride and I don't think a single one of them hasn't dropped their bike when they were first starting out.

yeah im 16 and been riding for a year or so ...i started out on a 1977 Kawasaki KZ 1000...not the best starter bike......it was my dads and he gave it to me...a great bike that i wish i wud have started on are little 250 ninja's...really sporty and are a blast to ride...but dont have TO much power for a new rider....they run new about 3000 but u can find used ones everywhere.

A 600 is perfect, but the new part isn't. Search for a nice used one.

well i check into it and since i am buying it cash just liability is $300 a year. it that about right 2 insure a rookie?

thanks for the input guys. but now i have about 9-10k to spend but the catch it i been approved for a loan by my bank for a bike loan and they only cut one check to the dealer, so buying a starter bike is not really an option, i just i may have jumped the gun buy trying to get a brand new bike. or maybe get 2 bikes? like maybe a used one cheap and a newer one, then just sell the older one? or does that sound outlandish?

So you have 9-10k to spend in cash in hand or is that what you are getting from a loan you were approved for? I looked on ebay and Mint 2001+ yamahas and cbr's are going for 4-6k.

well i already have the cash i guess u could say the bank will just give me a certified check, i guess i could always go back and ask to just get the cash, but if i get a used bike the interest rate goes up a few points right now i have a 1% APR so if i got the new CBR i would not have 2 pay anything outta my pocket and my payments on the loan would be $127 a month i cant do much better than that. and the 2007 is such a vast improvement (or at least thats what all the reviews i read say) over last years i really rather spend the cash on a new cbr with the better performance.

Not only that, everyone who responded said get a used bike. You can spend about 5-6 grand, get an 04 R6 and learn on that. Save the rest of the money, avoid a loan.

My buddy has a 03 600RR he bought two years old. It was his first bike and he has done fine with it. He never dropped it out on the road, but it did fall over in the garage once. Locating a used one in good condition shouldnt be diffiuclt. I too would go this route instead of a brand new one.

no i dont have the actual money, the bank just cuts a check with the name of the dealership once i figure out what i want. but i mean i do understand that i am gonna make some mistakes and that i dont wanna make them on my brand new bike, but i am also not gonna ride it on the public roads until i practice, i am just gonna go to a parking lot for a few hours a day.

I had a CBR and i loved it! I've ridden the 636s, r6s, and the CBR is the most stable bike.

I bought both my bikes brand new. The only reason I have dropped my gsxr is because I track it. I havent dropped the zzr ever.

i am gonna look in2 the frame sliders. yeah i wanna take my time and learn right. i live across from a high school and i just gonna practice there until i know what i am doing really well. i think if i just take it slow i should be ok. i mean i am not one of these people that goes into a bike shop and ask for a 1000 and never rode b4. i know its dangerous and i can get killed in a blink if i dont respect the bike.

yeah i have my permit i have 5 hours in the classroom and 10 hours on the bike. all i have to do is go down to the dmv and pass a written test to get my actual license. and i plan on taking another course the motorcycle school offers. there is extended tranning i am gonna take, its like another $200 but i figure its well worth it. its 20 more hours on the bike, and this covers things like emergency maneuvers and more detalied riding instruction.
