before i sold my old auto st celica i put it in reverse, drove backward till i was around redline i think i was around 40mph. (its been awhile), then dropped it in drive expecting a good burnout or something to break. to my surprise no tire spinning, no burn out, no nothing. it just dogged on its face an eventually picked up in drive. boring. surprised nothing broke.
while yours was the opposite of mine, i bet it was pretty awesome. -------------------- |

I did this on an auto Kawi 300 ATV once. Wasn't pretty lol. Wouldn't go over about 15 mph after that little stunt. |

trans may have a saftey feature where if you go from forward to reverse above a certain speed it will not let the clutches engage.

you gotta lot of stories man. But why would you floor in in reverse *in your other thread* and you probably stalled the car because you reversed the powerflow. You probably didnt break any thing, but you probably gave ur reverse gear clutches a good burn.

all i can say after reading your stories is that you need to be more careful. if not than do your car a favor and sell it til you learn to treat it nicer. i understand if something happens once in a while but you have only been registered for like a week and from the sound of it you have nearly killed it twice.
treat the celi with a little respect. come on. -------------------- |

Why are you taking your car out of Drive anyhow? Its auto - don't touch it anymore. Park it, Drive it, Reverse it, thats all.

well , the wierd thing about this story is , how did you accidently put it in reverse , in order to put in reverse you have to press the button on the shifter , which you dont have to press if you are going from neutral to drive !!

this kind of reminds me of the time i was watching a race. manual mx6 vs auto talon. as they were about to take off, the talon slammed it into reverse at about 5k rpms. man did everyone laugh at him.
edit: good thing no one was standing behind him :S This post has been edited by KaJuN: Jun 28, 2007 - 3:02 PM |
