some funny replies. Like, "honda styling" ??? (weirdo)
dude, i can't believe you're going the honda route, no offence to anyone, but i will never buy a honda, ever, they're everywhere. They only honda that might change my mind is the NSX or the S2K. I would have to say getting a del SLOW is a downgrade from your celica. If you want 2 seater, heck get an mr-2. RWD > FWD. |

there is nothing wrong with honda tec, I'm on there also.
And there is nothing wrong with getting honda's. I personally think they make great cars for what poeple use them for. the only comment that got to me on the honda tec thread was how they dont like the 6th gens body styling. I personally think our cars have the best timeless body style ever. I cant image anyone not liking it. |

Wow, it's a small world, lol.
Well, to clear things up, I've thought long and hard about this, and I think I am going to sell the car. I did what I really wanted to do; I built a really nice Celica. It's one of a kind, and I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. That said, I think it's time for me to move on. For one, I rarely drive it. In the last two years, I've put maybe 7-8,000 miles on the car. I keep it garaged at home most of the time and don't drive it much at all, even though it's a blast to drive. Second, I graduated and I'm moving away. I'm sure I won't have a garage where I'm going (at least at first), and this car really deserves a garage and a nice place to wash it and keep it clean. Third, I'm just plain tired of building/having the same car. I've had the car for five years and ten months. And I want something new. Yesterday I sold my G20, and with that money and the money I'd make selling the Celica, I could start a new project. Yes, I want a Del Sol. I've actually got my eyes on a H2B Del Sol. I also kind of want an EF Civic. And I kind of want a '99+ G20t. I'm not sure what I'll end up getting, but I know that I want something different. To be honest with you guys, I'm kind of growing tired of building cars. My real passion is developing websites and web applications, and if I do sell my car, I will keep on running 6GC just like I do now. So there are no worries there. My passion for the Celica has really been gone for quite some time...but lately I've been more passionate about developing 6GC. So yeah, I think I'm going to sell the Celica. From a car standpoint, it's time to move on. But don't worry, I'll still be here posting on 6GC, hitting up 6GC meets, further developing the site, etc. And who knows...if the right opportunity presents itself, maybe I'll build myself another sixth gen. sometime. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Well said Coomer, I'm glad you'll be staying around. It just wouldn't be the same without ya. Keep us in the loop with what you do and if/when you sell the car who it sells to. Thanks again for building a great site

I wish you could of told us yourself, instead of someone haveing to find out on a different site. Its a great thing that you are staying around and going to maintain 6gc. Hope to see some pics of the del sol if you get it, and of course make sure to have the new owner become a member as well.

you guys make it seem like its the end of the world.
if Coomer feels he wants to move on from the celica (like i haven't thought about it. /sarcasm) we should support him. though a del sol over a celica seems like a big down grade to me but if your passion is in the del sol then dont let anyone stop you from living it. -------------------- |

i can understand selling the celica.... but you would regret buying a del sol. i drove one before and it was horrible compared to the celica.

You need a 3sgte under the hood.
If you are planning on moving and not having a garage, a Honda is not the right car for you. As soon as you start fixing up the car you will become a target for theft. Search the word "theft" on these forums, then search the word on the Honda forums. Although I have always loved the EG hatch with a k20a. I wouldn't sell my car to build one. I'd build a bigger garage. Good luck Chris. -------------------- I will return one day. |

Its sad to see that your gonna cell the celi. But great that your staying and keeping 6gc up and running. Really i would never get rid of the celi for a del Sol but thats my opinion. Goodluck with what you choose to get. My buddy have a 00 Civic SI Coupe and i think its fast. But never has as many stairs as i get driving down the street lol.

Sorry to hear your selling the celica, and I have to go with the crowd here, celica>del sol. My friend has a del sol vti (siR for you guys?) and they are ok, but celica is faster, has more seats and looks better! The good thing about his car is the the electric hood (like something out of transformers!).
Saying that, I can see your need for a new project car. Personally, for a cheap honda project car, I would go with an old school CRX This post has been edited by Aus: Jun 27, 2007 - 1:45 PM -------------------- 1996 UK white ST205

A member here on 6GC (Daftboy) got his old Honda with a B16 swap stolen in broad daylight.
Not to say that this would happen to you.....but regardless. From my experiences, every friend I've had that has owned a Honda has gotten sick of it really quick.....People will always ridicule you and call you a ricer even if its clean and well-built, idiots will always try to race you everywhere, and thieves and cops alike will instantly target you as being some chump kid. I try to stay as far away from the title of driving a "kid car" as possible, and unfortunately thats the association with Hondas. Something more low key (EDIT- Read: sexy and sleek, not lame and pedestrian ), luxurious, and powerful is the only step up from the sixth gen in my opinion. Ultimately it comes down to what you want out of a car, and by all means do what you want and don't let us stop you by complaining. But having the foresight to know EXACTLY what it is you want out of a car before you drop a dollar on anything is 90% of the battle, and will probably make life alot easier on you in the long run. Best of luck with everything. This post has been edited by Silver94CelicaOwner: Jun 27, 2007 - 2:15 PM -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |
