ok so i know most ppl would just go 3sgte if they were doing a swap but not many ppl have a '90gts w/a decent 5sfe engine sitting around.. so i need some help!
I have: 1990 celica gts w/2.2L 5sfe engine 5spd tranny (120k miles on both)
I have: 1995 celica st 1.8L 7afe engine 5spd tranny (270k miles on both)

I WANT::: 1995 celica GT w/the '90 2.2L 5sfe (rebuilt) & matching 5spd tranny (new basics- clutch, synchros, etc)..
now.. how do i get there??

I know i need (among other parts i'm sure..): new motor mounts, new axles, new shifter cables, new gaskets for the 5sfe, new spark plugs, new lines (vac lines etc..?), new radiator and probably a new fuel pump.

What else would i need and would you guys suggest turboing the engine before dropping it if i can afford to? or wut should i do to make that process easier down the road... I have lots of working room available. Need info. I have a few parts from a 2nd gen 3sgte.. intake manifold and cam gears. will these serve any use?

OK guys/girls of 6gc.net please lend me all the info you have and parts that i'm going to need to purchase.. thanks for the info in advance.

youll also need teh harness, ecu, anything electricly related to the 5s.
its really more work than its worth for the extra 10hp.
putting the 5th gen stuff in just makes it worse.
the electronics from that engine wont work with the 6th gen stuff, so you'll also need to source a 94-95 distributor, ignitor, coil, intake manifold, EGR stuff, ect.
save your money, and just swap to the 3s when your really ready.

since you have both engines are cars already. You pretty much need to take everything from the 90 GTS and move it over to the 6th gen.

If you are lazy and dont mind losing some accessories, you can skip transfering over the power steering and airconditioning.

I would recomend rebuilding the GTS engine and transmission before you attempt to swap. That way you have perfectly health engine to deal with. When you diagois any problems you encounter after your swap, you know it has to deal with the changes you made to get the engine to fit, instead of an pre-exsisting problem in the 1990 gts.
