I'm nearly finished with the swap. Just need to know if its necessary to get a new fuel pump and exhaust. I know its recommended, but I'd rather save some money and do it later. I've already spent 3800 and I dont want to spend anything I don't have to.

I'm using the stock ST pump, no problems for over a year.

Eh.....It's REALLY not worth the risk using such a low capacity pump after investing that kind of money. For around $100 its a very small price to pay to make sure things run correctly.

Do it right the first time, and get a fuel pump that exceeds your demands, such as a Walbro 225LPH, 93-98 Supra TT pump, or at the very least a MR2 Turbo or AllTrac pump.

I don't know why you wouldn't just throw in a 255 just for ease of mind. Its easy and inexpensive.

It all depends on what the end goals are. For a stock 2nd gen 3SGTE, the ST's 160 LPH will be fine. BTW, Its the same pump thats used on the 5S and 3rd gen 3SGE cars. The stock ST185/SW20 is a 170 LPH, which would be a safer bet but at a 6% increase (at 45 psi) its not really gaining that much.

Now for a 3rd gen 3SGTE, the stock 540's (at 75 % duty rate - capable of roughly 330 HP) will be pushing beyond the limits of the stock ST pump. The ST205 / MKIV NA Supra pump (190 LPH )would be better and safer.

I am running a Supra TT pump in my all-trac, which has 660's and a TD06 setup.

i would NOT trust a 10+ year old, underpowered to begin with for the application fuel pump, when a suitable replacement pump can be had for ~100$ shipped, and installed in under an hr.
also, your not including the fact of the factory FPR on the 3s, which raises fuel pressure 1lb for every lb of boost.

that tells all that needs telling about what will do what.

quick update - the stock ST pump failed around 16 psi - choked and fell on its face hard. Not sure what the fuel pressure was up to, but I'm using stock 3rd gen 3SGTE fuel pressure regulator - so by pressures 1lb per psi statement it would be around 61 lbs.

thanks for the update, scothaniel.
i'd appreciate it if you would make a new post about it, so we can sticky it by itself for future users.
