Hi,

I have a problem with my Celica every time I turn on the car in the morning a white smoke comes out of the exhaust. The car runs fine but I'm worry that this can be a serious thing. Any idea was wrong? kindasad.gif

Mine does it too but it runs excellent. Wish there was an easy way to get rid of the smoke. I think u have to change all the seals in the engine to get rid of it or somethin like tht

you could always switch to a "high milage" oil, they usually have more conditioners and are usually a little heavier so it helps with the seals etc..

also... when you start your car, let it idle for like 15-20 seconds at least if you can and arent in too much of a hurry, and when your done driving also let it idle for about the same 15-20 seconds

doing both should reduce the amount of oil you burn, its not going to stop it or reverse any wear on the engine, but it will help a bit

also, avoid high rev driving, such as drive up to like 5k in 2nd gear then let the engine hang while you coast to a stop... sounds cool but puts a good deal more strain on the engine parts that are causing you to burn oil

Could always just be the exhaust burning off water condensation when started up first thing in the morning

its just worn/cracked valve seals. you can replace them easily with the ToyoTool. whats happening is you valve seals are letting small amounts of oil to drop into the cylinder when the vehicle is off. when u start the engine the oil is then burnt and thats what you see. its fine, but does increase oil consumption.

add a little ATF to the oil, about 1/4 quart. it'll help a little.

http://www.toyotool.com/
A valve tool that will replace the valve springs and valve stem seals with the head on
the engine or off. Easier to use than other Valve tool & Valve Spring Compressor
Specifically designed for 4 valve heads

I did my valve springs with it with the head still on, and it was a snap with toyotool.

I thought white smoke meant burning coolant, isn't burnt oil smoke blue?
