I hate my school.... Why are you getting a car to impress your school? Your 17 right? Which means your only there for another year about. I think if you like your Celica that is all that matters, and you shouldn't change what you drive just to make other people happy. -------------------- |

so you may have an auto and sure it may be slow. but does everyone else at your school have an interior that looks like that? hell i'd love to have that in my car. I'm only 18 by the way. but trust me. down the road you're gonna appreciate the reliability and dependability of the celi. I'm keeping my ST until it runs into the ground. then i'm gonna swap it and do it all over again. lol.

Dude take it from me..Everybody at my school loved the look of my car.Dont worry about the outside of your car.Especially in high school my car got beat to hell. I even parked across the street some times to keep the kids in cars away from me. Save your cash. and tell your freinds to suck it. My best freind in school had a 550 horsepower Grand National complete domestic kid ad when i told him i was thinking about selling it. He said I would never find a nicer looking car body style wise And he would start calling me a ricer. All hondas got on us are that they can Start there on fads because there are so many of them. Arounds here rattle can spray jobs and colored wheels are the ****...I think it just looks like there driving around some car i drew and colored in the 2nd grade. Dont fall into the honda craze. All the cleanlooking tegs and civics look the same just differnt paint and wheels(somtimes) To me JDM is the new rice.

A Honda isn't really gonna rid you of negative attention...a modified one anyway. Thieves tend to target modded Hondas, as do cops. With my Del Sol, I spent a good 20 hours installing a crazy alarm setup, but I still worry about it getting stolen with a tow truck or something everytime I leave it somewhere (like in my locked garage).
As far as negative attention from haters, don't worry about them. Build your car for you. If you're really set on turning heads, the cheaper route is probably a drop, wheels, and sideskirts. The Celica is pretty unique compared to Civics and Integras...especially a modded Celica...and it looks great IMO. I bought a Honda, and I miss having a really nice looking car. Everyone I knew loved my car, and couldn't believe I sold it for a "ugly" and "girly" Del Sol. Oh and by the way, most Honda swaps aren't really cheap either if you're thinking of buying a Honda and then building it. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Red, I know what your problem is power-wise. From 94 and earlier, the 7AFE engine had little on it to restrict it's true power which is about 115 hp. However from 95 and later, they dumbed down the 7AFE engine for emissions reasons. Which leaves it around 100 hp or so. Since you have a 95 you will probably feel a little slower than someone with an earlier model. Just some facts for ya.

i think you should do what i am going to do. first just worry about the looks of the car. right now i'm focusing on making my car stand out by it's looks. front lip, spoiler, soon i will add the rear splitters, tint, new rims. than after you have paid off your car (or sooner if you can) take out another loan for a swap. personally i want to stay n/a so i want a 3sge. still has plenty of guts and it's a little less money if you go to the right place. you can get a 5th gen 3sgte for a decent price as well. personally your car stands out more than any civic and honda. the looks of our car is amazing and you don't hardly ever see them.
do what you want but i think that you will be happier with the celi in the long run. -------------------- |

stick with the 6g. i love my car because its more unique than most cars on the road and because its not a tuner car. speed is overrated. i have an auto st too, and im at a mile in elevation. trust me, i wish it was faster, but its not something i cant deal with. i work at a dealership and have driven many different kinds of cars and i can safely say the 6g feels better built and has an interior that is miles ahead (in terms of design and materials) of lots of cars, hell even more expensive, newer ones. i have yet to find a car in the same price range i would trade it for. its made me appreciate my car. not to mention, with wheels and a drop, it will turn heads like no other car in its class. another reason i love the 6g is the gtfour. obviously, we cant get them, but you can make it look like one relatively easily. i mean, you can buy jdms, projectors, gtfour exterior and you have a completely different looking car that people have no idea what it is. most cars dont have that clean OEM option that dramatically changes the look of the car like the 6g does. most have to resort to aftermarket altezza tails and gaudy body kits. not to mention, if you want speed, its just a swap away, and there are many engines that work.

I hate my school.... sounds like you're wanting to get rid of it for all the wrong reasons. other people dont think its cool...so you wanna get rid of it????PLEASE, seriously, there is more out there than what the other people at your HIGH SCHOOL think. you say they don;t research anything and yet you want to impress them......get some new friends and stay with the celica for a DD, if you want power get an old chevy v8 muscle car, those are CHEAP and easy to find parts for..........seriously, be original, and don't do things because other people think its cool, do it because YOU think it's cool. BUT if you well it and get something else do it because its a better vehicle, not because your buddys want you too. I have a friend with a boosted 240sx that breaks all the time. he wants me to get one when my car has had normal probs with it and i get better milege, and it still turns heads because i dont have big dumb chrome wheels like everyone else in my town This post has been edited by b1gr3d: Jul 19, 2007 - 6:08 PM -------------------- Coming in 2010 full paintjob - new wheels - modified body - new interior - engine build- marriage |

get headers and a exhaust system, that will hide the noise of the lifters and your engine will sound like is high performance ( won't perform like that )

what tick are you guys talking about? I got alike 100000000000000000 of them....commin out of everywhere (might be a personal problem)
But yea, no matter what kinda car you get for 4k people are gonna be raggin on ya, and you live in NY...state known for their ****TY cab drivers....man, just stick with celli and save up buy new gear...dont worry about the look of it, worry about the brains....I personally dont mind a slow car...i want it to look clean and nice...thats why i spent 200 on new interior parts (used, new for me and not cracked) and it looks 100 times better.... but start slow (unlike me, that started 10 different projects at once) there is no rush... |

ive never even been in a cab lol, i live in albany not the big city. NY is a ***tty state for tuning and respectable cars. most cars up here are just rust buckets with snow tires mounted on all the time.
No celicas here either, only one other 6th gen at my school and he went to another state to buy it. Ive never seen one on the road, only one parked at a local golf course once and it was a yellow st that was highly not cared for. |
