"Honest" Ed Mervish died today. Its kinda sad that a big icon in Toronto passed away, but at least he had a long good life.

Story
City News article

And for thouse of you who dont know who Honest Ed was, he imigrated rom the US, took over the store from his dad when he was 15 years old when his dad died suddenly and became one of the biggest icons in Toronto over years with his charity. He owned Honest Ed's store...pretty much they have every thing you could need for cheap. Like dress shirts for $10, t-shirts for like $4 each, etc. Its a great store for any one whos just coming to Canada or whos down on their luck. Also every christmas and thanks giving, he would give away hundereds and hundereds of turkeys for people. He also started up the Mervish theater group, that lets canadian theater performers get a chance to be in big plays and perform to bigger crowds than a smaller theater. He was a good guy who cared alot about others and its sad to see him go.

RIP Honest Ed.
