Found this on ebay last week and since it is a rare item and it was pretty cheap I went ahead and bought it. Got it from UPS today. I did a comparison of the stock trunk lid and this carbon fiber one. It is 5 lbs lighter. I haven't decided if I am going to drill the holes to put the stock spoiler back on it or not yet. What do you guys think?

I never liked MR2s naked in the rear. Its like something was stolen of it. Nice find tho. Im still waiting for an MR2 to fall into my hands. Im not even looking for a turbo version. Just a Nonturbo 5sp with NO power..

Yeah I don't like them without spoilers and so I have already drilled the holes for the spoiler.

I vote NO SPOILER, I have two friends with first gens mr2s one with and one with out a spoiler and I think it looks better with out. But thats just my two cents, you should do what you think looks best.

Hmm just thought, CF Trunk Lid + Extended spoiler FTW! I know youve seen it. and It actually does something other than looks!!!!

Ive seen it on MR2 Locally. The good thing about it, is that you have less holes to drill.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

Umm you do realize that this is an 86 MR2. Which is a 1st gen so a 94/95 isn't really going to work on it.

That explains why the trunk lid is flat and squared lol. If you can wrap the stock in in carbon fibre to complete the look?

My buddy has a 1st gen MR2, and the stock wing is heavy as hell. Get a GT wing or something, but don't use the stock one. Kind of defeat the point of losing weight.

Think big carbon fiber wing.

Due to the aerodynamics of the MR2, if the top of the wing is level with the roof, it plants the car to ground.

(Assuming you want a track car, or highway runner)

Nope, didn't realize that. Good luck on your decision.

Well sorry but I Am not going to get me a ricer wing. As for the aerodynamics I don't really need anything to put the car in a wind tunnel. This is an autox car and yes I would like to put it on a PDX every now and then but even then it isn't like I will be going fast enough for a wing to makes things any better or worse.
I have already gone ahead and drilled the holes for the stock spoiler.

Well right now I don't really want to take any pictures of it for many of reasons.
1) it has no driver door on it right now
2) both quarter panels look like total crap because the previous owner had put 1/5" of bondo on it to fix the waves in it
3)most of the car is in primer
4)The car is in pieces
5)The stock wheels are on it instead of my Kosei K1's

Once I get it all primered up I am going to put back together and drive it around just so I can drive it again and when I do I will take pictures of it for you all.
