Just picked it up today. It currently has the kit lense. Along with it I picked up:

Polarizer
UV filter
4GB Extreme III CF card
75" tripod
portable tripod

Those were the bare essentials I figured to get started, I can't wait to go out and take some shots! smile.gif

ive been doing photography for about 6-8 years now and i have some really nice film cameras but i have one of the first digi rebels to come out i payed 1400 for it and i still cant go a day with out it biggrin.gif

Oh yeah it'll be a money pit. I've got my eye on the Canon 70-300 DO IS USM which retails around $1,000.

You can do those with P&S's that allow you to adjust the exposure.

Yeah, I'm looking at the sig 17-70mm as my walkaround.

What do you guys recommend for evening/sunset car shots? probably not much zoom required.

You can do those fine with any lens really. I'd recommend using a tripod regardless.

If you get a faster lens you can shoot at higher speeds, granted you will have a shallow DOF the lower you go. It really depends on what your going for as to how you use the camera.
