Sorry to all you die-hard celi fans but i have to get rid of my celica, an ~80whp car that looks fast around my area gets me no where.
I want to sacrifice the looks of a celica and go with an integra, or del sol. The aftermarket support for those "ricers" is amazing and fairly cheap. Not to mention they are honda which in my opinion can last longer than a yota, actually its probably equal. So i went on the hunt and found the gsr or type r integra has a bite, my friend has a 4dr gs version (gs< gsr< type r) that doesnt look fast but his $1500 turbo eats most stock v6's and v8's at my school. Im 17 and im on a pretty tight budget, but after selling my celi (if i even can) i think i can round up $4,000-$5,000. I know i could buy an integra or del sol with this but i dont wanna jump into things without getting opinions from people who know cars. what would u do with 4-5k if u needed an import with some looks and substantial performance? No civics either lol (ug i could never steep that low) pros and cons of integras would also be much appreciated. Thanks! p.s. when i bought my celi i was 15 and i knew nothing of performance or handling, just that it ran and it wasnt a pos. Please dont flame me for disliking their performance. |

QUOTE what would u do with 4-5k if u needed an import with some looks and substantial performance? No civics either lol (ug i could never steep that low) I'll tell you what I did with that amount of money... Bought the Yelli Celi. Seriously, why not save up some cash and pull a swap? Drop in a 4AGE 20V. They pack a serious punch. People target Hondas. They are the most commonly stolen cars and cost more to insure because of it. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

QUOTE and a GS 4 four door only comes in auto Really? my friend had a stick obviously (turbo), i just guessed on the gs cause he said at the crank it makes about 140 stock, which translates to the gs or ls or soething else. QUOTE Bought the Yelli Celi. it has a salvaged title, and velocity stacks turn me off cause i need a dd lol dont get me wrong that telli celi was the most bom celica ever, if i had a junker civic and my celi i would buy the yelli celi and beat the crap out of the civic as my dd QUOTE drop a 3sgte in that bad boy cant cause of budget and time, mostly just budget, and IMO the st looks worse than a jdm front end integra. just so you realize... most del sols are slower then your car. if you want to upgrade, at least get something good.

Yeah, I'm confused as well. You can't spend the time or money on the celi, but you can if you get a honda? Or are you trying to find one that already has a lot of someone else's time and money dumped into it?

I would honestly like to see a honda last as long as a celi... But anyways if your spending 4-5k to find a new car. The celi would be that new car with that money put into it. I mean a 2nd gen swap could cost around 3-4k. And still have 1k to spend on other parts. Hope you get what your looking for.

I'd assume he's going to SELL the Celica...then buy a car with that money. Which is not money he'd have to do a swap.
lawl @ you all. The 20v 4AGE Silvertop is a joke, anyway. Xpander's dyno'd a whopping 114whp. Who knows what the conditions where, but that's still no where near worth it. Maybe if you pour an inordinate amount money into it, such as Coomer, it might get a few ponies. GSR Teg would be the hands down choice if you are contemplating it. Stock for stock, and mod for mod would blow the doors off a 6th gen. <inside joke>And Dan, at least an ITR would run again one of these days.</inside joke> -------------------- |

i test drove a gsr b4 i got my celica (i think it was a 99 or 00 or sumthin)
it's not bad. faster n all.. but i couldn't stand the interior... looked like it was from the 80s... but then i kind of care more about looks than speed anyway... or u could just get a celica GT?... but then my family has never owned a car with more than 200hp... so... cheap, fast... sounds like a dsm... keep the celica, save up a grand or two and you can buy a descent 2nd gen project car n go from there, while still having the good looking celica for a dd i got a semi built 95 tsi for my first dsm for 1500 and went from there, all in all spent 3k total to buy & mod the car, hit in the 12's and i had an 89 acclaim for a dd. imo, dont blow money into a car unless you are secure enough to do so (have another car, have alot of money) doesnt quite seem like your there yet, save your money and buy something nice that you will like, like a type r in great condition n go from there, seems like you like your teg's, but also seems like you prefer them due to their price for the performance, any serious aftermarket mods usually kills a cars reliability -or- drivability, have power, but only 2 throttle positions SUCK for normal driving and is only good at a strip

yea just to clear things up mynzeyes was right, AFTER i sell the celica i will have 4-5 grand.
The celica gt has a mere .2 liter difference over the st and my friends got one with a CAI and catback that runs equally with my lil st with a SRI. So thats out of the picture. Thanks for the del sol warning tho, i didnt think it was possible to get slower than the ST. Finaly whats a dsm and tsi? thanks This post has been edited by Redline08: Jul 11, 2007 - 12:00 PM |

QUOTE Finaly whats a dsm and tsi? DSM is Diamond Star Motors (Mitsubishi, Eagle, Plymouth). The Mitsubishi Eclipse is also badged as an Eagle Talon and Plymouth Laser (1st Gen) the TSi is the turbo AWD version of the Eagle Talon. Basically a cheaper Eclipse GSX. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

Sounds like you're approaching a money pit. Take it from a guy who been there, done that: Save your money. Keep your celi since its so reliable.
