I posted a while back about doing stuff to my 218,000 mile 94 Gt. I took out the air box under the fender and put in a K&N drop in filter. Other than that the motor and exhaust is completely stock.

I want to keep this car forever, it is my primary driver car right now and I would like to keep it that way...these Celica's are so different and good looking to me I never want to get rid of it. I have never had any engine problems with it besides burnt spark plugs. Anyways, I live close to a Jotech here in TX, I have never had experience there before, but I think I may want to get my 5sfe rebuilt in a while and have them do a few mods just to get my HP up to around 200...new header, exhaust, head.

I've read a lot about a 3sgte swap..my car is an automatic and I want to keep it that way. I'm not looking into making this a race car or have it turbocharged/NOS..I think that a complete engine swap would definetely lower the dependability and cause more problems than good. I like the good gas mileage and I also read that some guys on here do get good results with fixing up the 5sfe. I'm not good with working on motors, thats why I brought up jotech..I don't know who to trust with my car besides my local tire shop, lol.

I basically would like my Celica to be as fast and sound as good as it actually looks.. I'm tired of it being a Sports Sedan, lol. Its sad that my wifes new Honda CRV feels faster than my car, lol. I also read on here that your engine loses horsepower with more miles.....if thats true thats real bad news for me..

Should I wait on exhaust until I ever decide to get the engine work done, or would it be okay to do now...any idea on full cat-back price?

Thanks guys!

From the sound of things, it doesnt look like a swap is a good option for you. swaps need long term maintenance, has lower mpg etc. Getting your 5sfe to 200 without using a turbo doesnt sound like a cheap task either and may compromise reliability and drive-ability . At the end of the day, the 5sfe isnt too bad around town.
I drive a 140hp and a 200hp car around and I dont really notice it around town/city. If I were you, I would not swap or try and attain 200hp from your motor. I would just go spend the money on nice header/exhaust which may give you a few hp but the sound from it will make you think that your car's horsepower has increased by alot biggrin.gif

dont bother with the engine work its not gonna get you anywhere close to 200hp.
if you want 200whp, either swap, or turbo, or buy another car.
